Matthew is back for his third season of varsity football as a member of the Badger backfield. Similar to last season I expect Matthew to be back as the QB for the Badger triple option attack. As a junior we saw Matthew produce at a high level, make a deep playoff run with his team, and showcase elite talent as a runner from vision to athleticism and power. This year the team will need him to produce at a similar level, and if they can make another deep run the door is wide open with all the top producers from 2024 graduating.

The Army football commit already has a State Championship from his sophomore season while playing RB. Last year he switched to QB for the Badger triple option offense and shredded defenses with the athletic tools he brings and with smart decision making/reads. Matthew is a mismatch with versatility. I’m expecting him to be a nightmare to contain this fall along with the rest of his backfield teammates.

This is one of my favorite RBs and overall HS careers I have covered here in WI. Matthew plays in the triple option attack at Badger. As a sophomore he was out at a wing and this past year he took over at QB making the tough reads and decisions while still playing at 100 MPH. With Matthew at the helm fireworks are the expectation. Whether it is his burst through the middle, lightning quick lateral agility, or field-flipping long speed, O’Grady can change a game with the ball in his hands. As a sophomore wing he averaged over 10 yards per carry on the way to a State Championship. As a junior he averaged over 12 yards per carry as a QB. I can’t wait to see what he does this year as a senior. Whatever it is, get ready for the fireworks.

2024 Stats: 1,817 Yards, 29 TDs
The junior RB/ATH/QB out of Badger has been all over the backfield of the option offense. As a sophomore he helped win a D2 State Championship as one of the wings, using his speed to win out in space as he stretched the defense horizontally. In 2024 he took over at QB where he showed off great decision making while still highlighting his outstanding playmaker abilities as a runner. His speed, vision, and agility led to him piling up 1,800+ yards and the spot as the most productive rusher returning in 2025. The versatile athlete is one of the top ball carriers in the state and needs a ton more eyes on him this offseason. Dive into his highlights below. Don’t miss out!

A back who I have been excited about for two years made his breakout in 2023. Matthew helped lead Badger HS to a D2 State Championship in an instant classic vs Waunakee. In that game, and all season, Matthew was the speedy mismatch out in space for Badger’s triple option attack. The game breaker averaged 10.7 yards/carry and 27.7 yards/reception in 2023. The 6′ 185 lbs back has a well built frame that can finish runs physically, but he wins with his speed to get to the edge and upfield. Matthew is also elusive out in space. He can stop/start quickly and easily. He sets up defenders. O’Grady is going to continue to rise in his Class. Don’t overlook the Badger standout.
