Rushing for 70 yards on 11 attempts with 3 touchdown runs would be a nice stat line for most running backs in the state on Friday Nights. But to get that kind of production from your quarterback against one of the best teams in the state is truly impressive. To add on top of that, going 16-20 for 170 yards and a touchdown is some incredible efficiency. His head coach, Sam Greiner, said Jamouri would show the world who he is in this game, and he delivered, despite a tough overtime loss.

Jamouri's favorite receiver was Charlotte commit [player_tooltip player_id='1299433' first='Donte' last='Nicholson'], who showed that the 49ers may have gotten a steal. Donte had 6 catches for 95 yards with a touchdown, and was the primary target on the two-point conversion play that could have potentially won the game for the Lions. Donte showed excellent route running, speed, and strong hands to consistently play well on Friday Night.

The Penn State commit had the only official sack recorded for the Lions, which resulted in a six-yard loss on the play. Elijah showed a nice rush off the edge consistently throughout the game, which also resulted in two tackles for loss. In total, Elijah finished with 10 total tackles, 6 solo tackles, along with the aforementioned tackles for loss and sack. He was a true game-changer and gave Nittany Lions fans a preview of what they're getting real soon.

The middle linebacker for the Lions was a big reason why the Whirlies' running game was held in check for the majority of the game. Michael was literally in the middle of most plays, diagnosing and reading the run game well, and fitting exactly where he needed to be from his linebacker spot. Michael was the leading tackler for the Lions, finishing with 11 total tackles, 8 of them solo tackles, for the game.

Head Coach Sam Greiner shared with me that he thought Davion played a good game on both sides of the ball. His numbers may not reflect it, but Davion's presence was a big deal in the secondary, especially since Lions captain [player_tooltip player_id='1157260' first='KD' last='Cotton'] did not play due to injury. Davion exhibited the speed and range he's known for on defense, while his presence offensively opened up some things for his teammates. Defensively, Davion finished with 6 total tackles, 5 of them solo tackles. Offensively, Davion had two catches for 18 yards.

The best high school quarterback in the nation showed exactly why he is such on Friday Night. With his team struggling to get the traditional running game going, Faizon took that upon his shoulders, running 16 times for 80 yards and a touchdown, something I'm sure the Whirlies' coaching staff didn't want to do, but it was essential to win this game. On top of that, Faizon was 7-10 for 171 yards and a touchdown, showing poise and accuracy consistently from the pocket. Faizon was named the player of the game by the Carolina Panthers.

Not as heralded from a media perspective as some of his teammates, Hudson stole the spotlight with an impressive 90-yard catch and run touchdown in the first half to get the Whirlies going offensively. What really stood out on the play was Hudson's speed in the open field - most players in the state don't run away from West Charlotte defenders, and Hudson did that in an impressive fashion. In total for the game, Hudson finished with 3 catches for 128 yards and the touchdown.

The Rutgers University commit did not have a huge night statistically, but he did a lot of the dirty work, blocking on the edges all game long to help keep the Whirlies' offense on the move.
Makai had the play of the game defensively, making the tackle on the attempted two-point conversion to seal the victory for the Whirlies in overtime. Over the summer, Makai picked up his first offer from Gardner-Webb, which obviously had a good eye for talent. I love Makai's speed and athleticism overall, and am excited to see where he goes from here. In total for the game, Makai finished with 4 tackles and one pass breakup officially.

Jaiden ended up being the leading tackler in the game for Grimsley, and his ability to slip blocks and make plays was impressive. The Lions simply could not keep Jaiden blocked, and he made several plays that helped change the game for the Whirlies defensively. In total, Jaiden finished with 8 tackles, a sack, two tackles for loss, and a forced fumble. Impressive production, and he's someone to watch going forward.
