Throughout the month of July and even into August, we are publishing well over 100 of the most in-depth team previews that you'll find anywhere to get you completely ready for the 2025 football season. This is something that began for us at PRZ-Oklahoma in 2021 and it continues to get bigger and better every single year. We're looking forward to diving deep into the top teams across the state in every class. From defending champions, to the top contenders and plenty of dark horses and other teams to know, we'll have complete coverage every single day. There will be multiple previews dropping every single day! In this post, we take a look at the Regent Prep Rams!

Regent Prep Rams

Preseason Prep Redzone Ranking: #6 In Class A-2

Head Coach: Adam Bishop - 15th Season - 110-22 Record At Regent Prep

2024 RESULTS (11-2 Record - Lost In Class A-2 Semifinals)

Sept. 6th - Beat Haskell 49-18
Sept. 13th - Beat Summit Christian 42-21
Sept. 20th - Beat Morrison 26-18
Sept. 27th - Beat Liberty 48-37
Oct. 4th - Lost To Central (Sallisaw) 56-41
Oct. 11th - Beat Gore 68-36
Oct. 17th - Beat Allen 54-18
Oct. 25th - Beat Mounds 56-40
Nov. 1st - Beat Talihina 41-26
Nov. 8th - Beat Wewoka 48-6
1st Round - Beat Ketchum 37-14
Quarterfinals - Beat Ringling 57-54
Semifinals - Lost To Woodland 60-22

2024 Offensive Scoring Average: 45.3 Points Per Game
2024 Defensive Scoring Average: 31.1 Points Per Game

The Regent Prep Rams came into the 2024 football season and they were entering a new era. For the first time in their short history, the Rams would be playing 11-man football. And they were going into their first season of 11-man ball with plenty of new starters so it was hard to know what to expect. They came out of the gates hot and there were plenty of high-scoring final scores that were still reminiscent of those 8-man games. They started 4-0 on the year before tripping up against Central (Sallisaw) in a 56-41 loss. But they bounced back and won their next five games, including a 41-26 victory over Talihina, to finish the regular season with a 9-1 record. They went into the playoffs with plenty of momentum and beat Ketchum in the first round and then took down traditional power Ringling in the quarterfinals with a memorable 57-54 victory to punch their ticket to another semifinal appearance. But the Rams would run out of gas and ran into a monster with Woodland in the semifinal round. The season came to an end at 11-2 after losing to the Cougars, who would go on to win the state championship and beat district foe Talihina to capture that gold ball. It was a whirlwind of a first season playing 11-man football in 2024. Now, they start to prepare for 2025 and they'll know what to expect and those expectations are certainly to continue winning games and competing as one of the best in Class A-2.

2025 OUTLOOK

Going into their second season of 11-man football, Regent Prep brings back the majority of their starters from last year's squad and they are once again a preseason top ten team. Six starters are back on the offensive side of the ball but all eyes will certainly be on the quarterback position. They lost without a doubt the best quarterback in school history to graduation and one of the best quarterbacks in the state last fall. That's not going to be easy production to replace but the Rams are confident in the two players that are battling for that position. And the positive sign is that whoever wins the job is going to have more returning experience around him than the Rams had in 2024. They had to replace the majority of their offense last year but that won't be the case this season. This has been one of the highest-scoring offenses in the state over the last few years so it will be interesting to see how the Rams look this season with a new signal caller. Defensively, the Rams also bring back six starters and we look for them to be improved this season. They have the majority of their starters back and that experience will certainly help as they try to limit those high-scoring back and forth games that we saw in 2024. And if the Regent defense can get some stops, that will certainly take some pressure off a first year quarterback. The district should be incredibly competitive once again as the preseason number one team is in the district with Talihina but Regent Prep appears to be ready to battle in 2025.

KEY LOSS TO GRADUATION

John Mark Roller - Quarterback - All State 2nd Team Selection

PLAYERS TO WATCH

Freshman [player_tooltip player_id='1717266' first='Brody' last='Smith'] is the first of two quarterbacks that will be battling to be QB1 for the Rams this season. And as we mentioned earlier, whoever steps into this role is replacing the best quarterback in school history. It's not going to be easy but Smith could be the guy. Just a freshman, he's already emerged as a 2029 prospect that we'll need to know about moving forward. He's the son of former Tulsa quarterback Paul Smith and earlier this offseason, Brody earned an offer from his dad's alma mater. We won't be surprised to see Smith take the field this fall in some capacity.

Junior [player_tooltip player_id='1717263' first='Cai' last='Brookover'] is the other prospect to keep an eye on when it comes to the quarterback battle. When we got the info from Regent Prep earlier this offseason, Brookover was listed as an overall athlete and not necessarily a quarterback. That suggests to us that if Brookover doesn't win the QB battle, he's going to be able to help this Regent Prep team in a variety of ways in 2025. And if Brookover does win the job and he's QB1 this fall, he gives the Rams a very athletic and talented player. Regardless of what happens, Brookover is going to be a player to watch.

Senior offensive and defensive lineman [player_tooltip player_id='1339125' first='Cole' last='Brookover'] comes into this season as one of the more experienced players on this Regent Prep roster. We wrote about Brookover around this time last year because of that experience he brought to a team that was incredibly young. Now, he's the seasoned vet and should be able to help whoever wins that quarterback battle. And then you look at what Brookover can do on the defensive side of the ball and this is a unit that wants to improve from last year. It can start with solid play on the line of scrimmage and that's where Brookover comes in.

Whoever wins the QB1 role will also benefit from having a player like senior wide receiver [player_tooltip player_id='1717259' first='Hudson' last='Phelps'] returning this season. Phelps has had a very successful career, full of productive games and clutch moments. Having that type of experience returning this season is going to really give this Regent offense a boost. And there's no doubt that whoever starts for the Rams at quarterback, the expectations aren't going to change. They expect to be one of the high-scoring offenses in the state and having a player like Phelps returning will certainly help.

MORE NAMES TO KNOW

Cade Johnson - 2027 Running Back/Linebacker
Freddy Calvani - 2028 Wide Receiver
Jude Emerson - 2027 Offensive Lineman
Kale Long - 2026 Defensive Lineman
Silas Smallwood - 2027 Defensive Back

2025 SCHEDULE

Sept. 5th - Haskell
- For the second straight season, Regent Prep will open up the regular season against Haskell. The Rams beat the Haymakers 49-18 last season in their first ever game as an 11-man program. And it was also the first of many match-ups in 2025 that were first meetings for Regent Prep.
Sept. 12th - AT Summit Christian
- In week two, Regent Prep goes across town to face off with Summit Christian. Last season, both teams made the transition from 8-man football to 11-man and Regent Prep won 42-21. Summit was the one opponent that Regent Prep was the most familiar with. They've won four straight in the series.
Sept. 19th - Morrison
- The Rams wrap up their non-district slate with a home game against Morrison. Last year, this was Regent Prep's first real test in their first season playing against 11-man competition. They passed the first test, beating Morrison 26-18. This year's match-up will be just as competitive.
Sept. 26th - AT Liberty
- Regent Prep's district slate will open up with a road game against Liberty in week four. The Rams opened up district play with a 48-37 victory during their meeting last season. The Rams will look to get their 2025 district stretch off to a good start with a big win in the district opener.
Oct. 3rd - Central (Sallisaw)
- In week five, Regent Prep will welcome Central (Sallisaw) to Tulsa and this is definitely one of the games to circle on the schedule for this fall. Last season, the Rams came up short, losing 56-41 and that would be the lone loss in the regular season. It's definitely a game that the Rams are looking forward to this fall.
Oct. 10th - AT Gore
- The second half of the regular season kicks off with a big road game against Gore. Last season, the Rams beat the Pirates 68-36 and the 68 points were the most points scored by the Regent Prep offense. This is a clash of styles between a balanced Regent offense and a run-first Gore attack.
Oct. 16th - Allen
- On a Fall Break Thursday night, Regent Prep hosts Allen in week seven. Allen will have a first year head coach and they will come into Tulsa with some talented players and can't be overlooked. The Rams beat Allen 54-18 last season and it was their first ever meeting.
Oct. 24th - AT Mounds
- In week eight, Regent Prep goes on the road to face Mounds. Last season, this was one of those high-scoring, back and forth match-ups that we talked about earlier in the preview. The Rams won 56-40 in 2024. Last season's match-up was the first ever between these two programs.
Oct. 31st - Talihina
- All eyes will be on this week nine clash on Halloween night. Regent Prep will host preseason top-ranked Talihina. Last season, the Rams beat the Golden Tigers 41-26 but Talihina brings back almost everyone from last year's A-2 Runner Up team. This is one of the better A-2 match-ups this fall.
Nov. 7th - AT Wewoka
- The 2025 regular season will come to an end in week ten when Regent Prep goes on the road and squares off with Wewoka. Last season, the Rams took care of business, winning 48-6. The 42-point victory would be their largest margin of victory. Last year was their first meeting since 2013.

NOTABLE

It's been 15 years since Regent Prep officially launched their football program in 2011. And the Rams have certainly grown into one of the more consistent and successful small school programs in the Tulsa area. They started as an independent team, organically growing their football program from the ground up. In 2016, they officially joined the OSSAA and they were a Class C program for two seasons before moving up to Class B. 2025 will be the tenth season that Regent Prep has played as an OSSAA-member. They've made the playoffs every year, won at least ten games in almost every year and won at least one playoff game every year. There have been two state championship game appearances (2018 and 2019) and now they have successfully launched into 11-man football. So the Rams have done just about everything you can do to be a successful program, with the exception of one thing. The state championship. They have two runner up finishes but Regent Prep is ready to take that next step and bring home that first ever state title.

LAST FIVE SEASONS

2024 - 11-2 - Lost In Class A-2 Semifinals
2023 - 11-2 - Lost In Class B Semifinals
2022 - 11-1 - Lost In Class B Quarterfinals
2021 - 9-3 - Lost In Class B 2nd Round
2020 - 10-2 - Lost In Class B Quarterfinals

CHAMPIONSHIP HISTORY

0 State Championships
