Matchup Nightmares- 5 WRs I Expect To Dominate Alabama In 2025

Earlier today, I was looking at our 2026 Rankings and found myself once again floored by the depth of talent in our WR class. We truly might have the best group of pass catchers in the nation with this year's group of seniors.   With that being said, there are a select few prospects I think have the chance to lead the state in receiving this upcoming season.   Here are 5 of Alabama's top Matchup Nightmares!    [player_tooltip player_id='1453166' first='Rollie' last='Pinto'] is a record-setting WR out of Piedmont who dominated every secondary he faced last fall.   “Pinto is an explosive threat at every level of the field. At 6'1 185, he's an excellent route runner with a great set of hands and tons of speed he uses to stretch the field out wide. I'm super impressed with how easily and quickly Pinto gains separation off of DBs- it doesn't matter what route he's running, Pinto leaves defenders in the dust.   Pinto is also extremely tough to tackle after the catch. He does a great job using his speed and twitch to evade defenders and plays through contact to fight for every possible yard before being taken down.“   Pinto was unbelievable last season. He gave nightmares to DBs all year long and ended the season with 108 receptions for 1826 yards. It's still insane to think about what he accomplished last season. He literally set a long-standing state record and was just short of the 2k mark AS A JUNIOR.   It's a no-brainer why Jacksonville State, Samford, Murray State, and others have been reaching out with offers. Pinto has shown it on tape, and even just ran a 4.5 at camp recently- with everything I've seen, it's pretty clear, he has a huge senior year ahead of him this fall.      [player_tooltip player_id='1408975' first='Brody' last='Jones'], the recent South Alabama commit, is one of my favorite WRs I've watched this offseason. What he, [player_tooltip player_id='1015233' first='Gunner' last='Rivers'], and the rest of Saint Michael Catholic's passing attack have done over the last two years has been must-watch.   Jones is extremely good at getting open- he finds ways to gain separation against all types of defensive backs, at every level of the field, in every game. Jones is a great route runner- he has a quick release, gets out of his breaks, and constantly finds ways to shake off DBs at or beyond the line of scrimmage.   When open, Jones does a great job securing catches and making defenders miss after the catch- he does a great job avoiding unnecessary contact and can make a ton of plays with the ball in his hands.    Jones dominated last season, hauling in 104 receptions for 1581 yards and 15 TDs. I love watching Jones- he's an incredibly well-rounded and reliable pass catcher who has developed great chemistry with Rivers over the last two years.   Make sure you watch out for Jones before he heads off to Mobile- we've got a special season from him coming up this fall.      [player_tooltip player_id='1283053' first='Tucker' last='Tomlinson'] is another dominant WR out of Saint Michael Catholic who I expect to have a massive season this fall.   "Tomlinson is a terrific route-runner. He has great footwork and can quickly cut and change his direction to gain great separation from DBs. Tomlinson is always finding ways to get open and has a terrific set of hands he uses to secure tough-to-catch passes all around the field.   Tomlionson can high-point the ball and tear it away from defenders in coverage, and also makes some seriously impressive grabs along the sideline and across the middle."   All of this was easy to see as Tomlinson ended the year with 66 receptions for 1283 yards and 14 TDs. With that kind of production, Tomlinson has seen his recruitment ramp up and has received offers from Samford, Illinois State, Chattanooga, and more.    [player_tooltip player_id='1283053' first='Tucker' last='Tomlinson'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1408975' first='Brody' last='Jones'] have been one of the most fun and dominant WR duos I've seen in my time covering the state. Everyone needs to watch out for Saint Michael Catholic this fall, I can't stress it enough.      [player_tooltip player_id='1471293' first='Kena' last='Rego'] is a dominant WR who just recently transferred to Spain Park, where I expect he'll have a massive season.   "Rego is a complete wide receiver who thrives at every level of the field- he's excellent at running posts, corners, and fades deep downfield while also capable of turning shorter routes into huge explosive plays. At 6'0 175, Rego has great size, plays with a lot of speed, and runs some really precise routes- constantly finding ways to gain separation against a wide variety of DBs.   Rego is terrific at hauling in passes and can make some really impressive catches along the sideline and through contact."   Rego was unstoppable last fall, ending his junior season with 79 receptions for 1587 yards and 14 TDs. With how well he played last season, Rego caught the attention of multiple schools, picking up offers from MTSU, Kennesaw State, and many others, but ultimately committed to Arkansas State last month.   Let's stop and think for a second. Rego dominated last season. Corey Barber dominated last season. [player_tooltip player_id='401079' first='Brock' last='Bradley'] has been one of the top QBs in the state for the last several seasons. I'm no mathematician, but I think this might mean that Rego and Spain Park's passing attack will DOMINATE this fall.   It's going to be fun to watch- in the meantime, check out some of Rego's film:      [player_tooltip player_id='212198' first='Jamari' last='Burnett'] is a big-time WR out of Russell County who has consistently been a top target in his team's passing attack the last few seasons.   "Burnett has the size and athleticism to make some highly impressive catches all over the field. He's terrific in contested situations, is a reliable target in the red zone, and has the speed and quickness to attack defenses vertically downfield.   I'm really impressed by Burnett's hands and catch radius- he does a great job climbing up and hauling in passes over the tops of defenders, and can also bring in passes through coverage/contact to make huge plays."   Burnett seriously impressed me with his tape last fall. It's clear he and [player_tooltip player_id='1301122' first='Bryson' last='Riggins'] have developed some awesome chemistry over the last few seasons. I won't be surprised if Russell County's passing attack ends up as one of the top units in the state- Burnett has some serious potential going into this fall.   Check out some of his film below:
