After two consecutive seasons of missing the playoffs, including a 1-9 season in 2023, the Ardmore Tigers were ready for a fresh start in 2024. Not only was it a new season but it was full of new opponents as they would drop down from Class 5A to Class 4A. It gave the Tigers an opportunity to reset things after going 4-16 in the previous two seasons. And they got off to a solid start in 2024. They started 2-0, including an impressive 42-18 victory over Ada. But they dropped their next two games, including a loss to Tuttle in the district opener. From there, Ardmore battled to go 4-3 in district play, including wins over Chickasha, Madill, Harrah and Tecumseh. Sandwiched in between those four wins were back to back losses to Blanchard and Bethany. But the Tigers did what they had to do to punch their ticket to the playoffs and after back to back seasons where they didn't make it to the postseason, it was definitely a step in the right direction in 2024. In the first round, they met Elgin and lost 43-0. The Owls would of course go on to capture the Class 4A state championship. The season came to an end at 6-5 but again, when you consider they won four games in the previous two seasons combined, it was a major step in the right direction. And when you look at the amount of talent that Ardmore has returning for 2025 and how Class 4A feels incredibly wide open, the arrow could be pointing up for the Tigers.

2025 OUTLOOK

Ardmore rounds out the Class 4A preseason top ten, checking in at #10 heading into this season. They bring back nearly everyone from last year's team and like we said, Class 4A doesn't feel as top-heavy as it did a year ago and it could end up being a very competitive class. Nine starters are back for Ardmore and it starts on the line of scrimmage as they bring back almost everyone up front. The quarterback returns and nearly all the skill players are back for an offense that averaged a little over 20 points per game in 2024. We think that the scoring average could go up significantly in 2025. Defensively, they bring back eight starters on that side of the ball. They have to find a replacement for one of the best linebackers in Class 4A last season but they bring back quite a bit of talent on that side of the ball. Similar to offense, it would be surprising if we didn't see them improve as a unit this season. But one of the more impressive parts of Ardmore's returning starters is the overall experience. Six of the juniors that will be starting this season have been starting for the Tigers since they were freshmen. This is a team that has a lot of chemistry simply from the fact that they've been playing together. The schedule will be tough as they play two top ten teams in the non-district schedule. And the district slate will be very challenging. But Ardmore could definitely improve on their finish from a year ago and if they do that, it could open the door on making a deeper run in the playoffs.

Ardmore is a very junior-heavy team this season but they don't lack senior leadership and experience. Senior offensive and defensive lineman [player_tooltip player_id='1728139' first='Benson' last='Le'] returns this fall for another season as a player to watch for the Tigers along the line of scrimmage. Ardmore has some potential monsters up front but in our opinion, you have to tip your cap to the senior veteran. Le has been a big part of the Ardmore turnaround and he has the potential to lead the offensive and defensive line this season and help the Tigers reach new heights. Look for Le to set the tone for an Ardmore offense that is going to establish the running game and dominate that way.

The first of several of those three-year starters in the junior class is [player_tooltip player_id='1350351' first='K'Drien' last='Miller'] at the quarterback position. Miller was thrown into the fire during his freshman season in 2023. There were some obvious growing pains but he came back stronger in 2024. He helped lead the Tigers to a winning season and a trip back to the playoffs. Now, he's going into his third season running the Ardmore offense and we can't wait to see what kind of jump this unit makes. In 2023, they averaged 12 points per game and last year they jumped up to 22 points per game. Another 10-point jump in the scoring average this fall, led by Miller, would make the Tigers a very interesting team to watch in Class 4A.

Junior [player_tooltip player_id='946188' first='Tyson' last='Laster'] has been a prospect in the state's 2027 class that has been on our radar since the end of his freshman season. He's going into his third season as a starter for the Tigers and he splits his time on offense and defense. Following his freshman year, he was known mostly for his abilities on the defensive side of the ball. Simply put, he was incredibly advanced for a young cornerback. Last year, he emerged as a threat on the offensive side of the ball. He finished with over 600 yards and six touchdowns from the running back position. It's clear that Laster is one of the best overall athletes on the team and Ardmore is doing the right thing by getting him involved as much as possible.

2025 SCHEDULE

Aug. 29th - AT Altus
- For the second straight year, Ardmore squares off with Altus to open up the regular season. Last year, they opened the year with a 27-26 victory over the Bulldogs. And that would be Ardmore's eighth straight victory in the series. These two teams had been district foes for a long time before last year.
Sept. 5th - AT Ada
- It's the annual showdown with Ada in week one as the Tigers look to take down the Cougars for the second straight season. Last year, Ardmore beat Ada 42-18. This year, Ada comes into the season as a top five team, with the majority of their starters returning. It's a solid 4A top ten showdown.
Sept. 12th - Shawnee
- Ardmore will wrap up non-district action in week two with their first home game of the season against Shawnee. The Wolves are a top ten team in our Class 5A preseason rankings. So it's going to be a major challenge for the Tigers. Shawnee won 34-13 last year and have won the last two in the series.
Sept. 26th - AT Tuttle
- It's back to the road to kick off district play in week four for Ardmore. It's Tiger VS Tiger as Ardmore travels to Tuttle. This was the first of several first meetings for Ardmore as they entered a new district. Tuttle beat up Ardmore 48-7 as they made a run to the Class 4A state championship game.
Oct. 3rd - AT Chickasha
- For the fourth time in five games, Ardmore goes back on the road to face Chickasha in week five. Last season's meeting was the first with Chickasha in nearly a decade. These two teams used to be district foes from 2010-2015 but hadn't met since. Ardmore won 35-12 last season.
Oct. 10th - Madill
- Ardmore kicks off the second half of the regular season with the first of four home games in the final five weeks. They will host Madill in week six and this was another new opponent for the Tigers in 2024. Ardmore would roll to a 42-6 victory last year and that was their largest margin of victory in 2024.
Oct. 16th - Blanchard
- On a Fall Break Thursday night, Ardmore hosts Blanchard in a game that will have major playoff implications. The Tigers lost to the Lions 56-20 last season but Blanchard will look a little different this fall under a new head coach. This could make or break Ardmore's chances at hosting a playoff game.
Oct. 24th - AT Bethany
- Following the showdown with Blanchard, Ardmore goes back on the road to take on Bethany in week eight. The Tigers lost to Bethany 41-9 last season and it was the first meeting between these two teams. Ardmore went 0-3 against Bethany, Blanchard and Tuttle last year and they need to steal one or two games this year.
Oct. 31st - Harrah
- On a Halloween Friday night in week nine, Ardmore will host Harrah. The Tigers beat Harrah 21-20 last season and that ended up being the difference between making the playoffs and missing out for the third straight year. Last year's meeting was the first between these two in 15 years.
Nov. 7th - Tecumseh
- In the regular season finale, Ardmore will host Tecumseh in week ten. Last season, the Tigers would meet Tecumseh for the first time and ended the 2024 regular season in style with a 28-0 victory. This year, they're hoping for another win here to take some momentum into the 4A playoffs.

The 2024 football season was Ardmore's first in Class 4A in quite some time. They had been a Class 5A program for over three decades but that changed in 2024 and it will be interesting to see how long the Tigers are in Class 4A. They are among the largest schools in the class so for the top handful of programs, they're living on that line of moving up or moving down. For Ardmore, Class 4A offered an opportunity to reset and start anew in 2024. And like we mentioned earlier in this preview, the Tigers feel like one of the more experienced teams in Class 4A. And for those juniors this season that have started since they were freshmen, they'll go into next year as four-year starters. Ardmore might lead the state, regardless of class in that category. But first, they want to take the step towards becoming a contender in 2024.
