<p class="has-medium-font-size">I always encourage football players who don't play baseball to participate in track and field. Why? The answer is an easy one. To be fast and explosive you need to train to be fast and explosive. Sure, you can do that in private training sessions, but why not do it in a competitive realm and try and excel in a sport that largely focuses on that in a team atmosphere? In this article I'll highlight some of the top performances from the state track and field meet last weekend.</p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size"><strong><br>2027 WR [player_tooltip player_id='968851' first='Jamier' last='Averette Brown'] (Wayne)-</strong> 1st place in the D1 100M dash with a 10.41 (P10.36). 2nd place in the 200M finals (20.90).<br><br><strong>2025 DB Tyrell Russell</strong> <strong>(Beachcroft)-</strong> Russell took home 2nd in the D1 100M dash (10.57). <br><br><strong>2026 WR [player_tooltip player_id='840674' first='Jaeden' last='Ricketts'] (Watkins Memorial)-</strong> 4th in the D1 100M dash (10.76).<br><br><strong>2026 WR Will Strong (Tippecanoe)-</strong> Strong earned 7th place in the 100M Dash 10.93 (P10.57)<br><br><strong>2025 ATH Caleb Hewitt (Chardon)-</strong> Hewitt finished 9th in the D2 100M dash with a 10.93.</p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size"><strong>2026 LB [player_tooltip player_id='1590015' first='CJ' last='Sanna'] (Olentangy)-</strong> The Ohio State Linebacker commit won the D1 state championship in the Discus with a throw of 194'11<br><br><strong>2027 LB [player_tooltip player_id='1677589' first='James' last='Conrad'] (Saint Ignatius)-</strong> 4th place in D1 Discus with a throw of 174'10.<br><br><strong>2025 WR/CB Connor Petrus (Elyria Catholic)-</strong> Petrus earned 1st in the D2 400M Dash with a time of 48.65. He doubled up his medals with a second place in the long jump with a jump of 22'07.25".<br><br><strong>2026 DB [player_tooltip player_id='1153109' first='Victor' last='Singleton'] (Toledo Central Catholic)- </strong>Singleton won the D2 long jump with a jump of 23'6.50".<br><br><strong>2025 WR Victor Hoelscher (Marion Local)-</strong> Hoelscher took home 2nd in the D3 200M dash with a time of 22.02. Hoelscher also took home 6th in the 100M Dash.<br><br><strong>2027 WR [player_tooltip player_id='1207680' first='Tripp' last='Phoenix'] (Carey)-</strong> Phoenix took home 8th place in the D3 100M Dash. Tripp also participated in the high jump.<br><br><strong>2026 OL [player_tooltip player_id='1695573' first='Hunter' last='Spangler'] (Liberty Center)-</strong> Spangler won the Shot put with a throw of 63'01.25".<br><br><strong>2026 DE [player_tooltip player_id='1695773' first='Drew' last='Zajack'] (McDonald)</strong> Zajack won the D3 state championship in the Discus with a launch of 178'3"<br><br><strong>2027 ATH [player_tooltip player_id='1657402' first='Brayden' last='Bryant'] (Austintown Fitch)-</strong> Bryant ran a 10.74 in the D1 prelims of the 100M dash.</p>
