A quarterback that rose up my board at the SDSU Prospect Camp on 6/9 in Brookings was Grand Forks Red River 2027 [player_tooltip player_id='1625519' first='Reese' last='Walters']. Reese was a 2027 in the live eval, that was one of the more balanced quarterbacks in the group when it came down to his poise and the ball throwing ability Reese has was certainly one of the more balanced onces I watched overall in this 2027 class at SDSU. I felt he had the arm strength and ball placement to excel on all three levels in the reps I watched. Reese might be a familar last name to the Jackrabbits faithful, as he is the little brother to one of our top offensive linemen in the North Dakota 2025 class, JB Walters. Twitter

A must watch 2026 I had circled pre-camp to watch in the live eval from just over the Minnesota border, was Hills-Beaver Creek quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='1371692' first='Jamin' last='Metzger'], who impressed me a ton in the 9-man state championship games. The throwing mechanics from Jamin I watched up close showed off even more polished up close than far away at US Bank Stadium in December. Jamin showed off in his throwing motion how he could loosen the corners with his pump fakes and especially on the intermediate routes I watched, could fit his throws into very tight windows along the sidelines. The 9-man All-Stater has a handful of NAIA and D2 offers thus far, and with his more than ideal size and the reps I saw at SDSU, I am very surprised he doesn't have even more attention yet on the recruting trail. Twitter

A name that I felt surprised me in the live eval at SDSU, came from Minneapolis Southwest 2026 quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='923855' first='Kyler' last='Thom'], as he had several nice reps I watched especially during individual drills a couple Mondays ago. Kyler possessed fluid throwing mechanics and fit his intermediate throws right in the bucket as far as ball placement and knew how to utilize his touch throwing ability in the reps I watched in Brookings. One that is without his first offer, that should have some offers surely coming in soon in my eyes. Twitter

Man, was I impressed with the growth curve that Chayce has made since having him at our Prep Redzone Dakotas Showcase almost over a year ago now. Where this young man has developed a TON is with his throwing mechanics as the growth curve forward Chayce has made was evident while watching him at the SDSU camp a few Monday ago now. The arm strength and ball placement has also soared forward well for Chayce, as a 2027 quarterback that certainly will be off our watchlist to the 2027 rankings by our next update coming soon in the next handful of weeks. Twitter

Hailing from right up the road at Brookings High that is going to soar upwards on our 2026 rankings based on what he showed off during the live eval is [player_tooltip player_id='1236489' first='Jones' last='Huntimer']. If you want a quarterback that brings a gunslinger mentality with every throw he makes, Jones is the quarterback you want in your QB room next-year. The quick release he has has gotten even quicker since my last live eval, and every throw Jones made at SDSU, was on time and showed off that he could fit in his throws quickly in tight windows. No offers yet for Jones either. Twitter

Reed in these eyes, made one of the most impressive throws I have seen still this camp season at the SDSU prospect camp on 6/9 and that wasn't the only throw that caught my attention in Brookings. I love the growth that Reed has made with his precision on his throws on all three levels at SDSU as he surely is due for a rankings bump in this next upcoming 2026 update. That precison was evident with one of his deep throws he made to West Fargo teammate [player_tooltip player_id='1113068' first='Aiden' last='Samek'], as he fit his throw in a very tight window as you could tell the chemistry he has built with his teammates, as he knew exactly where to place the ball for Aiden to make a impressive reception just inside the Jackrabbits end zone. Another 2026 quarterback that is super under the radar and surely is a great Saturday quarterback to those college coaches still hunting for QBs. Twitter

Of course we had to get our live eval on our QB1 in the 2027 class, which is [player_tooltip player_id='1263883' first='Brody' last='Schafer'] of Sioux Falls Lincoln who took 11AAA by storm as a sophomore last season. Even as a 2027 prospect, I love this kid's throwing mechanics as they keep looking even more smooth the more I watched him at SDSU as it didn't take long to see how quick Brody can gauge quick chemistry with the wide receiving core he was working with. He has such prime efficiency on all three-levels of the field and looking back at the clips I took from his reps at SDSU, there is no question why he is not only the best 2027 QB in South Dakota, but the entire Dakotas in my eyes. He surely should be an early offer in this 2027 class. Twitter
