The other Lynx defender that brings the boom which is intriguing, as I recall Chayce showing up at our Prep Redzone Dakotas Showcase as a freshmen at quarterback. A lot has changed since then and Chayce has made a great amount of growth at a more natural positon as well. He’s an excellent downhill accelerator to the ball and showed last summer in camp reps that he’s gotten more comfortable in 1v1 pass coverage. He’s also good with his hands getting off blocks to get to the point of attack. Should be in a good spot in the DB group with the 2028 rankings coming out soon!
Chayce got his first start at defensive back last night for Brandon Valley and made the most of it based on the live eval I got in the first quarter. The 5’11 165 pounder unleashed a monsterious hit in his first tackle of the game not only unloading on contact but the textbook side of it was sound as well. You want to see the field in 11AAA as a sophomore? You show off as a hard-hitting defensive back, you are going to see it as I am fired up to get more tape on Chayce as a DB for the Lynx upcoming.
-It appears Chayce split time on JV and varsity on a loaded Brandon Valley squad, but at the safety position Chayce shows off as a lurker to the ball that utilizes his vision quite well at a new position in our eyes.
-Surely plays with good range for his 5’11 165 pound frame that comes off as one that can play sideline to sideline.
-Not much tape with his pass coverage yet, however he seems to arrive to the pass-catcher in seconds of the ball getting.
-Chayce may have found a more natural position as a strong safety at the next-level.
Man, was I impressed with the growth curve that Chayce has made since having him at our Prep Redzone Dakotas Showcase almost over a year ago now. Where this young man has developed a TON is with his throwing mechanics as the growth curve forward Chayce has made was evident while watching him at the SDSU camp a few Monday ago now. The arm strength and ball placement has also soared forward well for Chayce, as a 2027 quarterback that certainly will be off our watchlist to the 2027 rankings by our next update coming soon in the next handful of weeks.
