My vote for South Dakota MVP at the SMSU Prospect Camp would go to Brandon Valley 2027 quarterback Will VanLeurWillVanLeur

who walked out of Marshall today with an offer from the Mustangs. He was one of the top testers just about across the board in most of testing categories that I got to watch as his overall athleticism from the jump during the testing period, was on display. He was also one of the most mechanically sound quarterbacks I saw in attendance this afternoon as Will was very proficent with his release and ball placement. He showed up close in the live eval that he could make throws on all three levels as the 6’3 190 pounder was the most proficent South Dakota prospect in attendance at the SMSU Prospect Camp.
Will took a BIG jump in his junior season at Brandon Valley moving up to our QB5 in thie class coming off the watch list. The 6’3 185 pounder for the Lynx shows off quick progressions and the same can be said with his release as he certainly took his release even faster than what we saw in limited reps in his sophomore season, as Will also appeared more fluid with his mechanics. The proficency Will displayed on tape is hard to miss as he had a constant ability to know where his athletes were on his routes and the underneath throws on intermediate routes seemed to always go for splash plays in the open field. He is one of a couple QBs that moved up as a stockriser in this 2027 class. Twitter
Will has surely solidified himself as a ranked prospect in our 2027 class based on what we have seen in relief leading the top-ranked Brandon Valley Lynx at quarterback. He is one that last night’s eval showed off a quarterback that has grown his mechanics since our last eval. Surely another skillset that has developed for Will this season is his ball placement, as the now 6’3 180 pounder was pinpoint on his first touchdown of the evening. He seems like a quarterback that has grown his football IQ and that chemistry is starting to show with his receiving core. Surely a riser in this 2027 class.
