Film Room: 2028 Players Making Early Noise

His size (6'3") and athletic ability are impressive. He can fire off the ball and create separation as a tight end. He also showed good hands as he caught the ball well. He also stands out as someone who can play as an edge or linebacker on defense. He played as an edge defender and as an off-ball linebacker. He shows good speed at both positions and chases downplays all over the field. His ability to fire off and make plays in the offensive backfield is impressive as an edge defender. He has an explosion from his stance that is impressive to watch. From his linebacker position or the edge position, he explodes off the ball, and it is his natural athleticism taking over. Hickman is still raw but has potential and should only be better next season. As a freshman, he stepped up and played at a high level last year. His ability to cover wide receivers is at a high level. I like how he uses his hands to guard wide receivers, but doesn't interfere with them. The other part of his game is his ability to break up passes thrown in his direction. He is also a good tackler, who tackles ball carriers well in the open field. I came away impressed with his ability. He has a ton of potential as an edge defender. His ability to explode out of his stance is excellent. He also has a great bend to his game and can get under the pads of offensive tackles. He is also difficult to block off the edge as he explodes out of his stance. He is also excellent as an edge defender by attacking the offense. He explodes off the ball and does a good job making plays in or near the line of scrimmage. Then, as an off-ball linebacker, he does a good job of reading and reacting to the play and attacking the offense. He is excellent at tackling, especially in the open field.
