On Tuesday, June 3, 2025 I was personally invited back for the third consecutive year by Fairleigh Dickinson University Head Football Coach Anthony Van Curen to cover his Football Mega Camp. With many other universities now following suit with mega camps of their own, Van Curen's is the O.G. in the area and, quite frankly, everyone is just biting off his style. However, at this point the term “mega” is probably an understatement to describe his event.

In what I would consider more of a celebration of the game, between the 560+ prospects registered, 100+ college coaches watching, clinicians, parents, and high school staffs there were literally around 1000 people coming out to compete, make connections, and enjoy an evening sample taste of football. As has become the norm for Van Curen's baby, the event was organized, structured, ran well, and was highly competitive.

In addition to eyeing prospects up, measuring their combine performances (40-yard dash, Pro Agility, Broad Jump), I was fortunate enough to receive unimpeded access to the grounds to evaluate and scout the talent on hand. In this article, I share my notes for the position group mentioned in its title.

I hold a special place in my heart for public school lineman who capture the attention of Group of 4 FBS-caliber programs; I therefore hold a special place in my heart for Franklin's [player_tooltip player_id='1246342' first='Miles' last='Muldrow']. Muldrow did an excellent job of working his hands inside. With tight elbows, the Warrior started to work his hands upward and even grabbed cloth through the bottom of his closed fists - a delight to any offensive coach. He is disciplined and strong enough to throw his matchup out the club as well. I do wonder how tall he actually is though, as it seemed that his base was wider than his frame. Taking this into consideration, he was still able to move laterally really well, recovering inside when necessary. That said, he needs to take power steps forward, not backwards, in order to reclaim ground and keep defender at bay in the neutral zone - it seemed as though there was an inside angle for claim.

I was also able to get a solid look at Nick Schenkel. A Liberty, Pennsylvania product, I thought Schenkel had good bend for someone his height. What he may lack in raw height, he certainly makes up for in strength. I was able to hear Schenkel's punches from where I was standing, as they were akin to a 300lber belly flopping into the pool. His hands were also in tight with a rapid recoil and subsequent deployment. When drive blocking I wish to see Schenkel's pad level maintain a bit more; however, he does take choppy steps for the most part, but picking them up and putting them down would be better... Making the short trip, albeit with a contingency of 25 teammates, from Elizabeth was [player_tooltip player_id='1185934' first='Bryan' last='Palamar']. Palamar had some forward lean in his stance, but appeared to be balanced despite this. He was able to extend and maintain separation between his matchup and his body. Speaking of his body, Palamar is a big, burly prospect. I would like to see him lean out a bit more and look a big, rather than just big.

New Yorker [player_tooltip player_id='1624551' first='Wesley' last='Moody'] is a prospect who has an opportunity to improve and grow his game. During indy I noticed Moody false step when skip pulling; he can also stand to throw his hip through, leveraging his inside foot for momentum. Improving his mechanics will allow him to win the point of attack much sooner. Upon taking his set, I noticed that Moody stopped his feet and never moved - I would prefer him to take the inside gap to protect the shortest path to the quarterback. I did, however, see him work his hands throughout his matchup and he kept his elbow sin tight... I admired the patience of St. Thomas More's Elijah Diaz. Diaz did not get overly aggressive to the point where it could be exploited. Rather than that, Diaz sat back, was patient, and let his opponent strike first. It is easy to do that when you can figuratively counter-punch as he can, with an outstanding anchor to match... I caught a mere glimpse of [player_tooltip player_id='1687375' first='Ryan' last='Tackacs'] at this event. Originally registered as an offensive tackle, this Hopewell Valley prospect might have aspirations of hauling in passes during his senior season this fall. With his secondary position listed as tight end, the one rep of Tackacs that I caught had him getting outstanding break on an out route.
