Bixby running back [player_tooltip player_id='589663' first='Brian' last='Jones Jr.'] has taken over the top spot at the running back position but the irony is that we might not see him play much running back this fall. Bixby got a move in at the position that could be their top option in the running game in 2025. But when we watched Bixby a few weeks ago, Jones was getting plenty of work at the wide receiver position and on defense. And when we look at what he did last season and what he's done this offseason, it wouldn't be surprising to see him in a Braylin Presley role where he's just as dangerous in the backfield as he is as a slot receiver. Whenever the Spartans can get the ball to Jones in space, he has the potential to make something special happen. That was evident in last year's state title game.

Lincoln Christian is going to have one of the best running back duos in the state this season. [player_tooltip player_id='1164507' first='CJ' last='Wright'] is absolutely dynamic with the football in his hands and we are really looking forward to seeing what he looks like with an added workload this fall. Wright was a name that we were excited about coming into the 2024 season after watching him tear it up on the camp circuit and in various 7v7 tournaments. Wright had a solid freshman season and then we caught him in person again last month at a team camp. All he needs is a little bit of space and he can score from just about anywhere on the field. He has the potential to be a human highlight reel for the Bulldogs this season. We have a feeling they'll get creative with ways to get the ball in his hands.

Washington running back [player_tooltip player_id='474035' first='Josiah' last='Dickerson'] is another undersized running back that is virtually impossible to touch in the open field. But one thing that separates Dickerson from some of the other guys on this breakdown is his strength. He's a legitimate weight room warrior and even if you hit Dickerson, he has the lower body strength and balance to just bounce off the contact. Dickerson has been waiting for his opportunity to be the guy in the Washington backfield and that time appears to be here. Every time we've seen him in person, with or without the pads on, he has consistently been one of the best players on the field. If you're looking for a player that becomes a breakout star in Oklahoma this season, you might not need to look further than Dickerson.

Hugo running back [player_tooltip player_id='1522518' first='DK' last='Jeffries'] enjoyed a breakout season last year for the Buffaloes. Out of the five running backs on this breakdown, it was Jeffries that led the way in rushing yards as he emerged as Hugo's top option in the running game. He has a similar running style to the rest of the running backs on this breakdown and has already proven that he can produce at a high level. Now, we're looking forward to seeing him take that next step. Become a running back that can consistently finish a game with 15-20 carries, week in and week out. He had three games in 2024 where he finished with at least 15 carries. We could see a significant uptick in his production when he takes the field this season. He's proven to be a name to remember moving forward.

Out of the five running backs on this breakdown, Broken Arrow's [player_tooltip player_id='1689523' first='Corey' last='Sango Jr.'] was the newest name for us going into this latest ranking update. Sango would get some playing time last season as a freshman but the Tigers also had an established guy at the position. So he had to make the most of his opportunities. We got a chance to watch Sango in person this spring, a team camp and he really impressed us with his ability to make the hard runs. Plus, we've been told by guys in the know that Sango has that ability to be the next standout running back for Broken Arrow. So between their offensive line and the guys they have at the running back position, the Tigers will be in a good position this fall. It wouldn't be surprising to see the Tigers feed Sango more in 2025.
