The 2025 West Virginia Combine Series camp took place at the beautiful indoor Highlands Sports Complex in Triadelphia, WV, on Saturday, with over 75 WV prospects competing and learning from college coaches across the state and region. Here is our evaluation of every quarterback in attendance at the camp!

Wheeling Central's Nico Kusics currently ranks as a Top 15 prospect in the 2027 class as the #ATH, but proved he has the arm talent to warrant QB looks for colleges too. Kusic comes from an unconventional offensive system that doesn't throw the ball around 30-40 times a game, but has always had the size and athleticism to be considered one of the top prospects in the state of West Virginia in his class. Kusic looks the part in person, both physically and athletically, which he displayed during the combine testing portion of camp. He has underrated arm talent, which we got a bigger glimpse of in person at Saturday's camp as a potential future D1 prospect with two more seasons of development coming.

2027 Wheeling Park QB [player_tooltip player_id='658279' first='Jay' last='Bordas'] was right in the mix for quarterback MVP at the Combine Series, which we expected from a Top 3 QB prospect in his respective class. Bordas has a quality build for a rising junior and has all of the tools to develop into a high-level quarterback prospect eventually. He showed tremendous upside as a first-year varsity sophomore starter this past season for the Patriots, a year earlier than many expected, with the incumbent QB1 transferring before the season. The highs and lows of a young quarterback showed up in year one against a tough AAAA schedule, but Bordas' potential and upside are clearly high. He showcased that ability at Saturday's camp as one of the top quarterbacks in attendance and a Top Performer mention from his college position coach who was training him.

Another expected QB Top Performer was Jefferson's [player_tooltip player_id='862698' first='Braylon' last='Holmes'], who currently ranks as the #2 quarterback in the 2027 class. It was good to see his arm in person after seeing limited time as a passer during the first two years of his high school career. We expect to see a much bigger sample size of his arm talent this upcoming season after a transfer to Jefferson for his junior season, with an open vacancy at the QB1 spot for the Cougars. Holmes is a physically impressive athlete for his age with ATH potential to move around to a few different positions if needed. We believe he has quarterback upside as a thrower after seeing him at the Combine Series as one of the top quarterbacks in attendance.

We're big believers in 2026 Wirt County quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='882030' first='Tyler' last='Smith'], who earned a Top Performer spot at our Winter Stock Up Showcase and had another solid day at the Combine Series. He's a tall but lanky athlete who will benefit from added size in the future once he's in a college strength program. Smith is a very underrated athlete in his own right and tested well during the combine drills. Small school prospects are often overlooked, but Smith has a ton of upside and potential for the quarterback position. He had a very strong junior season for the Tigers in 2024, posting nearly 2,000 passing yards and 25 touchdowns.

Parkersburg's [player_tooltip player_id='864950' first='Tyler' last='Cameron'] has patiently waited his turn to be the Big Reds' QB1, and he'll have the opportunity to take over the reins as a junior this upcoming season. He was a standout at our Steel City Collision 7on7 event earlier this year, so he's no stranger to success at PRZ events. Cameron is polished for a quarterback without any true varsity experience, which should allow him to step in as a junior with immediate success during his first potential year behind center at the varsity level. He's a touch passer who's accurate at the short and intermediate levels of the passing game. There are still levels that Cameron can reach in his game with more experience and development pending.

[player_tooltip player_id='1665955' first='Kyle' last='Athey'] is another quarterback who has waited his turn at the high school level and could finally earn that QB1 spot for Washington during his senior season. Athey also has ATH potential as a DB, too, but the Patriots will be searching for a new quarterback in 2025 with Athey being right in the mix. With his athletic ability and skill set, you can form an RPO-style offense around him with running ability to keep defenses honest. He can make strides as a passer over the off-season if he's able to put a bigger focus on the position. However, Athey's versatility will get him on the field in some capacity, whether it's behind center or not.

Just a 2028 prospect, John Marshall's [player_tooltip player_id='1653301' first='Landon' last='Cook'] is a quarterback to know for the future, who has shown potential for a young QB. Cook got some great learning experience for likely his first college-style camp that will benefit him over the next three years. He has natural traits for a quarterback that could allow him to bloom into a future star for the Monarchs if he continues to put in the necessary work to get there. Still expectedly raw in a lot of areas for his age and position, Cook flashed quality mechanics and arm talent as a freshman and will only continue to improve over time.
