Kusic moves with ease, whether he’s pulling the ball on a read or extending a play outside the pocket, and he has the build to take hits and keep going. A multi-sport standout coming off a basketball state championship, Kusic brings that same body control and competitiveness onto the football field. With their Spin Series offense expected to open up more in 2026, Kusic is in a good spot to let that athleticism take over and impact the game both through the air and on the ground.

Kusic came all the way down from West Virginia, and left as one of our top QB performers. He is a loose, lean, athletic QB who used the entire field to his advantage. He got the ball out quick, attacked tight windows accurately, and flashed enough touch to fit it in down the field. He played with the confidence needed to make big throws, and did so all afternoon.

Nico Kusic Nico Kusic 6'2" | 190 lbs | ATH/QB Wheeling Central Catholic | 2027 State WV led the Wheeling Central Catholic Maroon Knights to a Class A state championship in 2025 as one of the premier small school players in the state. He’s a dual-threat quarterback who totaled over 2,000 yards of offense in his junior season, but is capable of producing even more in his senior year. We still like Kusic as an ATH prospect with the size and athleticism that he possesses, but don’t overlook his arm talent either as a potential future QB in the rankings.

Now in his junior year and firmly established as the starter, he’s thrown for over 1,100 yards and 14 touchdowns while adding more than 500 yards and five scores on the ground. His ability to create outside the structure of the offense has given Central a dangerous dimension as the playoffs tighten, and opponents have struggled to account for everything he brings.

He’s thrown for over 500 yards and 8 touchdowns through five games and is averaging over 30 yards a game with his legs. The Knights’ passing game will continue to open up as the season goes on in their spin series offense, but Kusic is doing a great job of managing their misdirection offense with a 4-1 record. They haven’t needed him as much on defense yet this season, but Kusic proved last season that he can play safety at a high level when they aren’t keeping him fresh on offense.

He’ll enter the season as the starter after taking over early last season and never looking back. Kusic is an excellent athlete with size who produced at a high level on both sides of the ball as a sophomore. We saw him in person this summer at our Combine Series camp, where he earned QB MVP and may flip to that position in the rankings depending on how he looks this season.

Wheeling Central’s Nico Kusics currently ranks as a Top 15 prospect in the 2027 class as the #ATH, but proved he has the arm talent to warrant QB looks for colleges too. Kusic comes from an unconventional offensive system that doesn’t throw the ball around 30-40 times a game, but has always had the size and athleticism to be considered one of the top prospects in the state of West Virginia in his class. Kusic looks the part in person, both physically and athletically, which he displayed during the combine testing portion of camp. He has underrated arm talent, which we got a bigger glimpse of in person at Saturday’s camp as a potential future D1 prospect with two more seasons of development coming.

Kusic took over as QB1 when the original starter went down with an injury and never looked back. He threw for 1,200 yards and 20 touchdowns and rushed for 500 yards and 8 touchdowns while also picking off 4 passes on defense. Kusic is long and athletic, which will give him options for which position he eventually settles in at in college with the potential to continue developing as a passer.
