We're well into our breakdowns of the 2026 class after our spring rankings update. If this is your first interaction with the rankings, welcome from the Prep Redzone staff! We have a loaded schedule of rankings pieces that started Monday with reports on the 2026 quarterbacks. Tuesday, I looked at the running backs. Wednesday, the receivers, now the tight ends.

This rankings update, I'm doing things a bit differently. Rather than simply telling you which players moved up, I'm going behind-the-scenes to say why they were added, whether it was an initial evaluation, a camp performance, or simply us being a bit late to the party after a good junior season.

After looking at the TE stock-risers, it's time to hit the 2026 TE New Additions.

Sanders is a high-upside play, as he doesn't have a ton of high school production to this point. He's a developing blocker, but has shown a solid understanding of zone coverage as a receiver and has the size and speed to beat defenders in man. With a strong senior season, you'll start to see him pop up on the recruiting trail.

Harris might not be as well-known as some of the other new tight ends, he's probably the best route-runner of the bunch and he shows an excellent ability to catch the ball while maintaining top speed to maximize yards after the catch. He has a great feel against zone and the athleticism to create separation in man. He's got a skill set colleges often struggle to find in tight ends, which should help him on the recruiting trail.

Tobias could blow up on the recruiting trail soon and I love his upside and his production. Though he's a big-bodied receiving tight end, he moves really well, especially laterally, making him lethal in the open field. He also has some versatility, lining up at fullback, H-back, and in the slot, as well as in-line. Union Pines is able to do a lot in both the passing and running game because of his diverse skill set.

A multi-sport and two-way player, Jones is also a solid baseball and basketball player and standout linebacker. We like him most at tight end, partially because colleges struggle to recruit that position. Jones has great speed and elite strength, an athletic rarity at the high school level. He plays... everywhere, returning kicks and punts, playing receiver, H-Back, slot back, and tight end. Already a hidden gem, he could find himself with FBS offers by the end of the process if he can add some weight and refine some blocking and route-running technique.

A two-way player, McCarn's biggest impact as a junior was as a home run hitter as a hybrid receiver/tight end. Playing in a modified Wing-T, he was used primarily as a blocker, with a standard Wing-T passing route tree: lots of seams, flats, and corners. When called upon as a receiver, he was reliable and explosive, picking up chunks of yardage at a time.

Wilson had a huge junior season, topping 1000 receiving yards and flashing outright dominance at times. He's a long strider with long arms and good body control. And he has plenty of room for development. He often wins on pure athleticism and as he becomes a more-refined route-runner, he's going to make a college team happy.
