We're just days away from our Spring PRZ Combine, the first we've ever done in the Raleigh-Durham area. Simply put, I'm excited. As much as a I love getting back to the Charlotte area to cover showcases, it's rare to have one in RDU and the makeup of our participant list skews heavily to the RDU area.

I'm mostly on the high school side, but I'll have my eye on our middle schoolers as well. After all, they'll hit the high school ranks soon enough. I've been pre-scouting some players, including high school defenders from the RDU area, and some high school offensive guys from around the state. Here, I've picked out a few middle schoolers I think have the ability to impress me.

Middle Schoolers To Know at the PRZ NC Clayton Camp

The structure of the camp should allow me to scout a bunch of guys. We'll split into smaller groups to run 40s, broad jump, 5-10-5, and L-Drill athletic tests, then do some positional work and end with 1-on-1s. I'll bounce around and scout everybody in attendance, but I'm particularly intrigued by these guys.

I'm excited that the middle schoolers will be competing alongside the high schoolers. I love that because they'll get to get some coaching as if they're at the high school level. And, while they'll have longer to develop, a strong performance next to older prospects is always a great way to catch my attention.

[player_tooltip player_id='865972' first='Jackson' last='Jenkins'], OT, Northern Nash

Jenkins will be one of the largest linemen in attendance, regardless of age. He's as big (6'2, 280) as some of our seniors. Obviously, he's still learning how to control that body and use it to his advantage, but obviously the tools are there. The beautiful thing about Sunday is that he'll have opportunities to face guys he can't simply overwhelm with power. What will hi technical skills look like in that setting?

[player_tooltip player_id='1612459' first='Awesome' last='Cull'], Edge, Wando

I saw Cull at the last PRZ Next Showcase I attended and left thoroughly impressed. He's an early candidate to contribute this fall as a potential freshman on varsity. He has good bend and a nice array of moves. He's teachable and I was impressed with how he used techniques practiced in position work last time in later one-on-ones. Some time in a high school weight room will really take his game to the next level.

[player_tooltip player_id='1636550' first='Will' last='Brincefield'], QB, Broughton

The Broughton coaching staff has developed some excellent quarterbacks in the past, so I'm excited to see the kinds of tools Brincefield has, knowing he'll be well-coached in high school. I want to see a good arm from these quarterbacks, but I also want to see some patience. Throwing next to some excellent high school arms can ramp up the pressure on these middle school passers, so I want to not only see Brincefield throw some strikes, but also handle himself well in a stressful environment.

[player_tooltip player_id='1633351' first='Jonah' last='Terry'], LB, Heritage

Just a 2030 recruit, Terry is the only middle school linebacker on the pre-registration list. That means he's going to get a ton of attention and have plenty of opportunities to get some great reps. At 5'7", 170 pounds, he already has impressive size. Can he move as well as I hope? If so, can he challenge some of these older running backs and linebackers in one-on-ones? He's playing with house money here as a young guy at a thinner position. How well can he take advantage?

Exzavier Allen, DB, Franklinton

Franklinton guys are typically tough and that's the kind of player I see when I watch Allen's film. The lone defensive back among the middle school guys, I think he'll be able to hold his own while surrounded by some older prospects. He's a true athlete, so I'm excited to see what he can run and how he performs overall in the testing portion.
