[player_tooltip player_id='1240420' first='Max' last='Nevitt'] is a stout blocker who's had a big role for Algona's O-line, helping Algona finish as a top-5 scoring offense in Class 3A. Nevitt is used often as a pull blocker for the run game, showing a great level of aggression on the punch, and he's able to just maul defenders with his drive and sheer power. Nevitt's testing numbers are impressive posting a 355 lb bench, 505 lb squat, and 515 lb deadlift, and that strength is on clear display on the trenches. Nevitt will be remain an important piece of the puzzle for Algona's offense as they transition in 2025 under a new QB.

[player_tooltip player_id='1694520' first='Chasse' last='Downing'] serves as the Center for Creston's offense, and while Creston did take a step back after a strong 2023 showing, Downing fit comfortably in the Panthers O-line to give a sturdy presence in the team's transition under new starting QB [player_tooltip player_id='1844844' first='Tanner' last='Ray'], while also blocking for RB Weston Trapp, who finished 3rd in the conference in rushing yards with Downing in the lineup. Downing was often able to smother defenders off the snap, keeping them from beating him inside. Downing has good hand placement and keeps his feet moving well in tight quarters. Downing will be an underrated big-bodied blocker to keep on your radar this upcoming season.

[player_tooltip player_id='1242260' first='Justin' last='Barrett'] is a bit undersized as a Right Tackle currently, but his sharp skillset and impressive prowess as a run blocker has certainly not been overlooked. Barrett does a great job shooting off the snap and hitting the defender upward, doing a great job at maintaining good pad level and constantly driving the defender backward. Barrett has great awareness in understanding what the defender is doing at the line and adjusting his hands to leverage where the defender attacks, staying one step ahead of the defender at all times. If Barrett can bulk up a bit this offseason, he should see his stock shoot up toward the top of the OL rankings in Iowa by the end of the year.

Returning to Algona's O-line, we take a look at the Centerpiece of their blocking unit, [player_tooltip player_id='1240419' first='Tate' last='Carter']. Carter's strength has been a vital asset for Algona's run-game, being responsible for opening up several gaps and lanes for his ball-carriers to go through, being able to easily twist defenders to the side, and he does a great job getting into space to make a block at the second level. Carter is just as able to hold his own in 1-on-1 situations, maintaining a clean pocket for his QB on passing downs. Algona with have a very strong line next season to lead a talented offensive unit, and Carter will leading the way in the middle of that offense for one more season.

[player_tooltip player_id='1361129' first='Cole' last='Nohrenberg'] is a very intriguing prospect playing Right Tackle for an offense that only threw the ball 30 times last season. There is no doubting Nohrenberg's talents as a run-blocker, being utilized as a pull-blocker, and he moves pretty quickly across the line. Nohrenberg is a terrifying player to go against, especially when he's pursuing the defender at full speed, as he will run over the defender easily. Nohrenberg's strength and great run-blocking ability will likely see him move as an interior blocker at the collegiate level.

Another Tackle prospect who's efforts have been vital for a run-heavy offense, Avery Jacobson has been a cornerstone for Sergeant Bluff-Luton's run game, which was not only the top rushing offense in Class 3A, but ranked 3rd among all Iowa teams last season in total rushing yards. Jacobson does a great job moving laterally, especially in outside zone runs, being able to maintain his leverage and keep the defenders from beating him on the outside shoulder. Jacobson does a great job in slide protection, while also playing at a low pad level and smothering defenders to the ground. Jacobson is a tricky prospect, though if he can build some bulk this offseason, Jacobson could very well earn some attention during next offseason to move as an interior offensive-lineman at the next level.
