CFI Carolinas MEGA Showcase Top Running Backs

The Charlotte Football Insiders (CFI) Carolinas MEGA Showcase brought over 270 athletes from all over the Carolinas and put them in front of over 25 colleges in order to be recruited and possibly offered college scholarships. CFI in the last 5 years has had over 100 players gain offers through exposure from their showcases and events. This analysis will focus on the top running backs selected by the CFI Coaching Staff as Top Performers from the event.    I was really impressed with Emory's performance at this showcase, and it really came from what he showed as a pass catcher in the 1 on 1 period against linebackers. Emory has shown on film how strong of a runner he is in helping lead the Lions to a state championship in the playoffs last season. But Emory put some nice moves on display during the pass-catching period, showing very good hands and speed in the open field. Recruiting for running backs has been slower in the transfer portal era, but I think Emory is on his way to a strong season and definitely turned the heads of some college coaches with his performance here.     Josh has been one of my favorite running backs for a little while because he is a threat both as a runner and a receiver. Josh put those traits on display very well at this showcase, showing why he is one of the top running backs in the Charlotte Metro Area. Linebackers had trouble staying with Josh in the pass game 1 on 1s, and Josh looked quick and decisive with the ball in his hands during the cat/mouse 1 on 1 period against linebackers. Josh picked up an offer from Concord University after his strong showcase performance.     This was my second time seeing Jaden within the last couple of months, and all Jaden continues to do is impress wherever he goes. Jaden continues to back up what he put on film last season when he rushed for over 1000 yards and 20 touchdowns. Linebackers had trouble covering him out of the backfield during pass game 1 on 1's, and Jaden looked strong and quick during the cat/mouse 1 on 1 period. If Jaden were a couple of inches taller, I think he would have some offers, but his time will come from a recruiting perspective. It's no longer a matter of "if" but "when".     The other 4 running backs listed here were somewhat known commodities to me coming into the showcase, but Prentiss really showed strong to get into the Top 5 of a very strong overall running back group here. Prentiss is at a new school in Olympic for him, going into his senior year, and it will be exciting to see what he does with this opportunity. Prentiss's size and speed combination were impressive things here - when he got a chance to get into space, it was impressive to see how well he moved. Good agility and change of direction through the agility circuit were standout traits as well. A 3.9 GPA and a 290 pound bench press - that got Prentiss put on our watch list for rankings, and we'll be excited to see how he progresses to start the season.     We have studied Lincoln a good bit this offseason, as my cohort Will Helms took a look at him for his Community Film Room series. Consequently, we jumped Lincoln up a good bit in our rankings update, and Lincoln backed that up with a strong performance at this showcase, showing good explosion off of his change of direction with the ball in his hands, and fluid movement during all three primary phases of the showcase. Lincoln will be an important piece of the Pumas' offensive attack once again this season as they attempt to build on their 2nd round playoff appearance from last year.
