The Prep Redzone Oklahoma team camp tour continued on Friday morning with a stop at Carl Albert. The defending 5A champs were hosting reigning 4A champion Elgin and Southmoore. We got a good look at two defending champions and a 6A-2 team ready to make some noise in 2025. In this breakdown, we're taking a look at several standouts from Carl Albert and Southmoore. Earlier today, we had a breakdown specifically on Elgin. In this breakdown, it's all about the 5A champs reloading once again with 2027 talent and Southmoore perhaps being ready to take that next step under first year head coach Brett Jones. Keep it locked in to Prep Redzone Oklahoma for more team camp coverage!

[player_tooltip player_id='1680079' first='Beau' last='Davis'] - 2027 Linebacker - Carl Albert

Carl Albert lost arguably the most productive linebacker in the state over the last few years and it looks like they've found his replacement for the middle of the defense. 2027 linebacker [player_tooltip player_id='1680079' first='Beau' last='Davis'] is expected to step into that middle linebacker role and also play some tight end for the Titans. Davis has already picked up the attention of D1 coaches and that won't slow down anytime soon. Davis will be playing both ways for the Titans but it was hard to not be impressed with what he's able to do on the defensive side of the ball. First off, he looks like a prototypical linebacker and you combine that with the fact that Carl Albert's defensive line is going to be nasty and you have a player that is primed for a big season at linebacker. Davis will be a name to know in 2025.

[player_tooltip player_id='693905' first='Delijah' last='Matthews'] - 2027 Running Back - Carl Albert

Carl Albert 2027 running back [player_tooltip player_id='693905' first='Delijah' last='Matthews'] was a name that we knew about coming into the camp on Friday but we still came away incredibly impressed with him. Matthews looks like he's grown an inch or two and has been living in the weight room for the last six months. Simply put, Matthews has the chance to have a very special junior season this fall. He's been patiently waiting for his turn to have the keys to the offense, so to speak and 2025 might be the season he takes it. We got a chance to watch Matthews quite a bit on Friday and the one word we'd use to describe him is smooth. Everything he was doing on Friday was incredibly smooth. He has speed, he is not afraid of contact and he checks about every box to be a star running back.

[player_tooltip player_id='1680084' first='Makauri' last='Johnson'] - 2027 Wide Receiver/Defensive Back - Carl Albert

[player_tooltip player_id='1680084' first='Makauri' last='Johnson'] is another new name to look out for this season. The 2027 wide receiver and defensive back immediately caught our attention on Friday morning and right now, it seems like it's 50/50 on which side of the ball Johnson could be more valuable on. Moving forward, he could end up on the defensive side of the ball in a few different spots but he also showed he has the ability to make plays at the wide receiver position. Johnson is an impressive looking prospect but similar to a lot of Carl Albert's new faces, he's young and there will be some growing pains over the next several months. But we like Johnson to be one of the breakout players for the Titans this fall. He has all he tools to be just that for Carl Albert moving forward.

[player_tooltip player_id='1179993' first='Nakwaine' last='Carter'] - 2026 Defensive Lineman - Southmoore

Southmoore 2026 defensive lineman [player_tooltip player_id='1179993' first='Nakwaine' last='Carter'] has been a defensive lineman to know about for a few years now in the state's 2026 class. On Friday morning, he was arguably the most dominant defender that we watched during the varsity rapid fire portion. Carter basically required double teams on every snap and even then, that wasn't enough on some plays. On one play in particular, Carter was jammed up by a double team and it was a pass play, but he kept his eyes on the quarterback and at the perfect time, got his hands in the passing lane and broke up the pass immediately. Not to mention all the times that the double team wasn't enough and Carter ended up in the backfield causing havoc. For the college coaches in attendance, he was a very popular name.

[player_tooltip player_id='445315' first='Taven' last='Hayes'] - 2027 Quarterback - Southmoore

The state's 2027 quarterback class is pretty established at the top, with the top three guys. Then you have a big group of signal callers that are trying to separate themselves from the pack. Southmoore signal caller [player_tooltip player_id='445315' first='Taven' last='Hayes'] is a guy that we're going to be watching more this season because he certainly has the potential to rise up the ranks this fall. Hayes really impressed us on Friday with his ability to throw on the run and when he didn't have a man open, he would tuck the ball and pick up positive yardage. Southmoore was going against Carl Albert's defensive front quite a bit and they cause absolute mayhem on the line of scrimmage. So Hayes was under pressure quite a bit and he never looked rattled. He put up strong numbers last season and could do even better in 2025.
