A training I've been wanting to attend for a while! During yesterday's workout, I had the opportunity to evaluate five high school QBs and three college QBs. Since my job is based around High School Football, I'll be sharing my thoughts about all five high school Quarterbacks.

I may sound like a broken record in this article. Generally, all of these guys had great mechanics and were accurate.

It's been a while since I watched Jake in person, and I'm delighted to have gotten a great look at him yesterday.

Unsurprisingly, Jake is a very well put-together QB. Footwork is there. Mechanics are there. Throw power is there. Accuracy is there. A little hard to evaluate IQ, but I'm confident he's ahead of the curve there. If I had one knock, it would be that Jake sometimes missed slightly high. Though he didn't miss often, and he missed high WAY more than he missed left, right, or low. Accuracy also didn't seem to dip when throwing on the run.

Not too fancy of an evaluation, especially when I've waited so long to see Jake in person. Jake is a rock-solid player leading a quarterback-friendly offense. Always been the case, but he's still a GLIAC floor, MAC ceiling guy in my eyes.

Jaxson came out and did his thing.

The most impressive QB at the workout. Mechanics are smooth as butter. Throwing motion, feet, hips, etc, all flow perfectly, making for a very consistent throw. Jaxson also had the best throw power of any. While some guys' deep balls tended to have a higher arc, Jaxson's throws were a tad lower, more powerful, and just as, if not even more, accurate. This workout was near-impossible to accurately judge athletic ability, but Jaxson's explosiveness still showed on some of the moving reps.

MAC floor and B1G 10 ceiling. Really good football player, as always.

Last season, I watched Alex's first game against Belleville. He was sprung into the starting role and faced off against the state's most physically gifted defense. Alex did extremely well and showed a ton of grit, but I thought he still had a ways to go before he was a great quarterback.

Since then, Alex has put on some good muscle, refined his mechanics, and upped his accuracy. I watched nearly every rep of Alex's, and his hit rate on these throws was seriously impressive. Totally changed my perception, and he's growing into the player I expected him to grow into.
Again, difficult to judge athletic ability, but Alex looked explosive. Considering he was going to play DB last season, "explosive" seems like a fair thing to say.

I know it's just a low-pressure workout, but I am impressed. The OAA Red is absolutely stacked, and I'm super excited to see Alex face off against the rest of the league. I'm also extremely excited to see the rematch agaisnt Belleville- I'll almost certian I'll be there.

Difficult to give an opinion on his ceiling and floor right now, but my gut says low GLIAC/D2 floor and low MAC ceiling (at least at QB).

Eli came to play!

One of two younger prospects at the workout, and they both did a very good job. Like the others, Eli was flat-out accurate. I'll get this out of the way, but I thought Eli was a little stiff with his mechanics and doesn't drive the ball as well as others. Though most prospects with those issues are also inaccurate. Eli was the opposite. He hit his spots consistently and just needs some more time to develop physically.

Too early for me to project Eli's college value. Accurate, young QB who is ahead of the curve when it comes to incoming sophomores. Impressed by the Montrose QB- can't wait to see his sophomore success.

Locke was lights-out. This is someone I didn't know about until I arrived, and now he's an early favorite in the Class of 2029.

I've watched a handful of QBs from his class. Most QBs are very undersized and struggle mightily with throw power, accuracy, and mechanics. Compared with his class, Locke is WAY ahead of the curve. He's still a little undersized (as expected), but has the mechanics and confidence to make any throw. Plus, his throw power is amazing for his current size. Locke does an excellent job using his lower body to generate power, and does so with consistency. He can really fire the ball into his receivers hands from 5-15 yards out, and he can also throw a very nice deep ball.

The sky's the limit. Some things to correct, but most will correct naturally with age. Looking forward to seeing what the future holds for Locke.
