Dual Threat QB's You Need To Know

Here's a look at five dual-threat QB's that you need to know heading into the spring:    I've been raving about Dixon for the past year and will continue to do so, as this kid is one of the most electric players in the state. He put up over 2,600 yards and 24 TD's through the air while adding over 1,200 yards and 12 TD's on the ground which included 6 games where he busted over 100 yards. Twitched up with loose hips and possesses good top end speed for big play ability after he makes opponents miss, but also possesses escape artist ability to abandon the pocket and find receivers downfield. A very dangerous player overall with a high ceiling heading into his senior season where I expect his offer total to spark up here soon. He currently holds offers from Air Force, Army, and Utah.     Vanden Bosch really emerged as a top all around QB during his junior campaign on a highly talented Brophy squad, and holds loads of potential to be that game changer here in 2025 and see a significant rise in his stock. He threw for over 1,000 yards and rushed for over 1,700 yards, totally 16 TD's through the air and 16 on the ground to go along with it. Really good poise and demeanor in the pocket with the ability to move DB's with his eyes and deliver all three levels of throws with velocity or touch. He does a great job of knowing when to abandon the pass and run, and shows excellent vision with a nice burst upfield and top end speed to finish big runs- but can also get shifty or put his shoulder down to fight for those extra yards. He currently holds offers from Nebraska, Iowa, Army, and Montana.     Don't underestimate Yoney due to the size of the school, as he's shown all the signs and checked all the boxes to deserve a shot at the next level, and projects to have a breakout senior campaign with a full, healthy season. While Mohave bumps up from 3A to 4A, this provides Yoney with a significant increase in competition which certainly raises the bar for him, and he seems hungry for the challenge. As mentioned in my previous eval of Yoney, he possesses excellent twitch- frequently showing the ability to make opponents miss and eat dirt, while flashing good top end speed once he hits that second level as well. A very smart ball carrier as well- showing the ability to read and pull, knows when to bounce outside, when to abandon pass, and when to square his shoulders.     Martinez is one of the most slept on QB's in the state and deserves some immediate attention from schools. He plays much bigger than his size, showing competitive toughness to bring the juice to that Ironwood Ridge offense. As a runner, he does a great job running the read option- frequently establishing a good mesh point with a long ride to then pull it quick where he flashes excellent burst. He runs with a low pad level and showcases good twitch and lateral bounce to change direction swiftly with ease. He does a great job extending plays as well and will even bait those pass rushers into taking a specific angle to his advantage- where he can climb up or burst out of it. As a passer, Martinez shows a quick release with the ability to zip throws into tight windows with solid anticipation.     I really like the ceiling Vanacore possesses after my initial eval. He shows a good pre-snap read to identify coverages and mismatches, and does a great job knowing where to go with the ball and getting it out quick- oftentimes on seams or verts, showing the ability to finesse throws in (play #1 on film). Good pocket presence to stand tall and and throws with anticipation while showcasing good overall arm strength to both hit throws with velocity or stretch the field vertically. I really like his ability to throw off platform and throw with different arm angles as well. He does a great job extending plays to either find receivers downfield or pick up yards on the ground. As a ballcarrier, Vanacoreshows solid vision with impressive balance- frequently bouncing off tackles and keeping momentum forward. He flashes a nasty jab step to put opponents on skates and flashes solid top end speed once he gets his shoulders squared downfield. Definitely a kid to have on your radar this spring.
