One player that caught the attention of all our scouts was [player_tooltip player_id='1646442' first='Tyson' last='Zauhar'], who excelled within this group and has generated buzz as a potential stud for the class of 2028. Zauhar showed solid athleticism, and he did a great job hitting his passes on the run, and he has an impressive cannon of an arm for a QB his age. Playing behind senior Max Fredin, Zauhar will have another season to develop his skills before potentially earning a starting role in 2026, which will give him plenty of time to further progress his mechanics which already look promising.

Mankato East holds a young QB who after this performance may have very well established himself as a legitimate contender for the starting QB job in 2025 in [player_tooltip player_id='1581375' first='Kellen' last='Willaert']. While his numbers during the test portions didn't suggest he was quick, he was impressively fast moving around in the pocket. Willaert threw the ball with a solid release and a consistently strong spiral. I don't remember a single pass that he threw that look wobbly or sloppy on his part. Willaert is quickly building confidence under Center, and it will be interesting to watch how his role develops for Mankato East as he enters his sophomore year.

One QB that flew under the radar during the showcase on Sunday was Zach Kremer, who could quickly find himself adding his name to the list of strong QB names that have came out of Lakeville North. Kremer immediately caught my eye in the group as a longer, leaner athlete with a great wingspan. Kremer throws the ball with a quick release and showed excellent power and accuracy throughout the plays-on-air portion of the showcase. Kremer is a name that we may become more familiar with over the next few years with the way that he's playing.

[player_tooltip player_id='1201408' first='Grant' last='Benson'] had a strong performance on Sunday, and his backup at Buffalo, [player_tooltip player_id='1288312' first='Reiker' last='Wignes'] also put up a strong display in the red group during the showcase. Wignes impressed during the testing portion, running a 4.89 40 yard dash and posting a 35.5" vertical jump. That athleticism translated during the throwing portion, showing impressive power and ball placement on his passes, whether through a flick of a wrist or on a sidearm throw. Wignes will have to wait likely one more season to see significant playing time as the varsity QB, but he will easily be at the front of the line to take over in 2026 for Buffalo.

Blaine is coming off their best win-total since 2018, and with an open competition for the starting QB job in 2025, one underclassman emerged as a potential contender for the role in Connor Kaphing. When I watched Kaphing throw the ball, he had an interesting sidearm on his passes, but it worked very well with his horizontal passes, throwing the ball with a tight spiral to hit his receivers. Kaphing could potentially build a bit of mass to match his promising framework as well as to improve his throw power, but Kaphing could see himself swiftly rise toward the top of Blaine's QB room very soon with this progression he's making.

Standing at 6'3 and 195 lbs, [player_tooltip player_id='1645128' first='Thomas' last='Klinge'] already boasts an impressive frame that should easily see him in the starting lineup for St. Paul Como Park. When I watched him throw the ball, he threw the ball with a high arm extension, being able to extend all the way on his passes. While this isn't always the most optimal method, especially for a QB his size, it allowed him to hit his targets with excellent ball placement and a quick release. Klinge is primed to take over the starting job for St. Paul Como Park in 2025, which will give him an opportunity to further hone his mechanics and improve his status as one of the most intriguing QB prospects in Minnesota for the Class of 2027.

After taking the starting QB job for Foley as a sophomore, [player_tooltip player_id='1645705' first='Carson' last='Brenny'] has been putting in the work to develop his skills, and it showed itself pretty well on Sunday. I was a bit concerned about his release, as there tends to be a bit of a windup in his throwing motion that delays his passes a bit. However, he slinged the ball with an impressive amount of power and zip, hitting some beautiful deep throws in stride during the showcase that caught everyone's attention during the event. Brenny could try to work a bit to improve the speed of his windup, but Foley should be excited with the potential in Brenny's ability as he goes forward with the starting job.
