Our first ranking for the state's 2028 class came out on Wednesday. Our first ranking update featured the top 25 players in the state's 2028 class. This list will continue to grow over the next three years. Every time we do a ranking update, we dive into prospect breakdowns following each release. In this breakdown, we're putting the spotlight on the five prospects that rounded out the top ten. We wrote about the top five prospects earlier in the week and now we take a look at the five players from #6 to #10 overall.
Piedmont standout [player_tooltip player_id='1599209' first='Knoxtyn' last='Rallo'] was one of the first prospects in the state's 2028 class to earn a D1 offer and we have a feeling that the college interest isn't going to slow down anytime soon. Rallo's freshman film is very impressive and the first thing that really stands out is the speed. Rallo is incredibly fast in the open field and his vision allows him to see the right lane and explode. We also benefitted from seeing Rallo in person at our January camp. He was one of the top athletes in attendance and we knew that he's going to be considered one of the best players from a versatility standpoint in this class. The only question we have is what position will end up being the most natural fit for him at the next level? Because right now, he has found a way to impact the game in a variety of ways.

Around this time last year, we were writing quite a bit about Lincoln Christian's [player_tooltip player_id='1164507' first='CJ' last='Wright'] and at that time, it felt like he'd be a lock for the initial 2028 rankings and he would be relatively high. Wright debuts at #7 overall and the top guy at the running back position. Wright has legitimate track speed and when he gets into the open field, he is incredibly tough to stop. Wright would earn playing time as a freshman in a relatively loaded Lincoln Christian backfield. This fall, he'll still be splitting carries but there is no doubt that Wright gives the Bulldogs a playmaker that not many teams can contend with. Wright is already a star on the track and the more he grows, the more he has the potential to be one of the very best prospects in this class. He's incredibly dynamic with the football in his hands.

Westmoore's [player_tooltip player_id='451430' first='Tommalik' last='Benson'] is a new name to our radar when it comes to the 2028 class. He was an unknown prior to our camp in late January. Benson not only showed up and showed out, he was one of the best players in attendance, regardless of the position. And Benson did it as a freshman, competing against plenty of juniors and sophomores. Benson has also stood out in several 7v7 tournaments this offseason. But on the flip side, we need to see him perform like this with the pads on and when the lights come on in the fall. Benson has looked really good this offseason but we're fired up to see how much of that strong play translates in 6A-1 football. Benson has stood out on offense and defense over the last few months but if we had to pick one position right now, we'll give the slight edge to wide receiver.

The last time we saw Bixby's [player_tooltip player_id='589663' first='Brian' last='Jones Jr.'] in person and with the pads on, he was standing out in Bixby's state championship victory over Owasso. As a freshman, Jones earned very valuable playing time on the best program in the state. There just aren't many freshmen that earn playing time for the Spartans and the ones that do, immediately get our attention. Jones was on our radar prior to the 2024 season after standing out in multiple 7v7 tournaments but we were fired up to see how much playing time he would get and what he would look like when the pads came on. He passed the eye test and we're looking forward to seeing how he continues to develop. He's in a very similar situation to Wright at Lincoln Christian, where he is absolutely dynamic in the open field and his ceiling is incredibly high.

It's still obviously very early on in the process but right now, Booker T Washington offensive lineman [player_tooltip player_id='1522526' first='Philip' last='Loadholt III'] is the top guy at the position in this class. There are a couple reasons why we think Loadholt has earned this spot and is a top ten overall guy in addition to being the top guy at his position. He started as a freshman for Booker T Washington in a bounce back year where they won the district championship. The Hornets also have two of the best defensive linemen in the state and Loadholt has to deal with them every day at practice. Iron sharpens iron. He's only going to get better from here the more he works with those monsters. Loadholt started for the Hornets at center and his stock is only going to continue to go up with the more experience he gets. He also benefits from having some outstanding genetics on his side.
