You can make the argument that Broken Bow quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='1525562' first='Greydon' last='Howell'] was the biggest breakout star in the state in 2024. And it didn't take very long for him to establish himself as just that. Howell immediately grabbed our attention with the numbers he was putting up as a thrower and a runner from the quarterback position. Then you throw on the tape and you see the ultimate athlete back there playing quarterback. Howell's recruitment has really started to take off and he has taken over the top spot at the quarterback position. And for those thinking that Howell is just an athlete playing quarterback, that might be true right now but he's also showing consistent signs of improvement at that position. He also has a background in baseball, which makes him even more intriguing from the passing perspective. Howell is just scratching the surface on what he'll be moving forward.

We wrote quite a bit about Owasso quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='1235926' first='Drew' last='Frankenfield'] right from the start of the 2024 season. He immediately caught our attention with his performance against Bixby in the season opener and our opinion of him only continued to grow throughout the regular season. Frankenfield emerged as one of the state's more efficient quarterbacks and like we mentioned multiple times during his sophomore season, he simply did not look like a sophomore, making his first ever starts, at any point during the year. Frankenfield has a high ceiling as your prototypical quarterback moving forward but he also showcased he's a decent athlete. Now, we're very interested to see how Frankenfield continues to develop moving forward. He had the benefit of having arguably the best offensive line in the state. Two D1 signees will need to be replaced so Frankenfield will need to have his head on a swivel.

[player_tooltip player_id='891992' first='Kason' last='Delgado'] was the first quarterback in the state's 2027 class that had our attention and he's certainly been no stranger to the headlines in his first two years. Delgado started for Union in the second half of the 2023 regular season. He would then move back to the Edmond area and started for Edmond Santa Fe in 2024 before injuries finally caught up to him and sidelined him for the year. Earlier this offseason, Delgado moved back to the Tulsa area and landed in Broken Arrow. The three teams in three years can grab a lot of headlines but when it comes to Delgado as a prospect, he's one of the better guys at the position. He's been battle-tested against the toughest competition and he's continuing to get better. Delgado has also improved this offseason and we have a feeling that Broken Arrow is primed for a monster bounce back season this fall with Delgado leading the way.

Pocola quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='1473214' first='Ja' last='Posey'] was another quarterback that came somewhat out of nowhere to becoming one of the state's top passers. We got a chance to see Posey in person early on in the season and he was going against a very strong Vian defense. Despite that, he was still able to move the ball up and down the field. And that's the thing that we like the most about Posey moving forward. Complete state stats are not available but from what we have in front of us, Posey was the state's leader in that category. But it's what he was able to do against Pocola's toughest competition that has our attention and has us very interested in his continued development as a passer moving forward. There's no doubt that Pocola was throwing the ball quite a bit but Posey really impressed in his first season as QB1. Where he goes from here is something that we're very interested in.

Our final quarterback on this breakdown is Talihina signal caller [player_tooltip player_id='1524935' first='Landen' last='Griffith'] and similar to Howell and Posey, Griffith was one of the biggest breakout stars of the 2024 season. Just two years removed from Talihina not having a football season, Griffith led them all the way to the Class A-2 state championship game. And while he was driving Talihina to Edmond, he was putting up some absolutely monster numbers. It was very similar to what Howell was doing at Broken Bow when it came to the pass and rushing numbers. But Griffith was able to do it all the way to the state championship game and it didn't matter who the opponent was, Griffith continued to produce at a very high level. When it comes to his future as a prospect, we're not sure how high he can climb. But when it comes to Griffith over the next two years, he'll be one of the more dynamic players in the state.
