Wayne State really did a heck of a job getting some nice talent in this 2025 recruiting class. Head Coach Tyrone Wheatley and his staff did a great job selling their program and securing some really solid talent from not just the Detroit Area, but also across the country. The Warriors are building defense and building the trenches on both sides of the ball, and I'm extremely excited to see how this translates to on field results. Below I'll highlight the in-state talent Wayne State was able to obtain in this recruiting cycle.

OFFENSE:

[player_tooltip player_id='1290558' first='Connor' last='Knapp'], WR, West Ottawa- Looks like WSU recruited him to play receiver. Absolutely has the athletic ceiling to do a ton of damage out wide for the Warriors.

[player_tooltip player_id='1248603' first='Bishop' last='Thomas'], WR, Mt. Clemens- Big frame, absolute playmaker, elite catch in traffic and blazing speed. Will absolutely get behind a secondary in a hurry.

Malik Shephard, RB, Harper Woods- Quick, great footwork and superior change in direction. Could be a real weapon within the offense.

[player_tooltip player_id='1568807' first='Chase' last='Stephens'], RB, Saranac- As the WSU page put it, he's a small school hidden gem! Great vision and patience, superior instincts and dashes through arm tackles with no issue.

Kenneth Franklin, OL, Harper Woods- Big frame, big force in the run game, and can get to 2nd level to lock onto LBs.

[player_tooltip player_id='1298629' first='Deshawn' last='Wright'], OL, River Rouge- Listed as OL/DL so will likely get snaps both ways. Big physical kid with a mean streak. Going to be fun to see where he develops into in his college career!

[player_tooltip player_id='601081' first='Trezelle' last='Jenkins Jr'], OL, Belleville- Big frame but moves well, can pull and get to 2nd level. Well rounded OL that Wayne State should be excited about, Trezelle has a super high ceiling!

DEFENSE:

Creg Johnson, DL, River Rouge- Wrecking ball. Fires off, sheds blockers and has the motor to pursue the QB all over the field. Going to require double teams as much as possible.

[player_tooltip player_id='899593' first='Tyler' last='Torey'], DL, Macomb Dakota- High effort DE with a quick get off and a bag full of pass rush moves. Special mix of speed, power and aggression. Great get for the Warriors.

Jacob Blair, DL, Roseville- Sparkplug on the offensive line. Shoots out of his stance and uses his speed to make offensive linemen look silly. Super strong sure tackler.

[player_tooltip player_id='602142' first='Johnny' last='Nelson'], LB, Harper Woods- Aggressive LB with good instincts. Gets sideline to sideline with ease and takes good angles.

Daylon Doe, LB, Grosse Point North- Lists himself as OLB/Nickel. Really like his man coverage and ball instincts. Comes up in the run game and be a force player on the edge.

[player_tooltip player_id='1246317' first='Mason' last='Conklin'], LB, Sparta- Big. Physical. Nasty. Great instincts. Classic downhill LB that will do great things at stopping the inside run.

[player_tooltip player_id='602107' first='Luke' last='Johnson'], LB, Oxford- Quick with good instincts. A true leader, Luke can be a great locker room guy. Was also a star RB with great balance and athleticism.
