You know we are big fans of Drew on this site, as he has been one of the all time stock risers in PRZMI history. He has turned himself into a legitimate D1 player, and the offers have started to roll in. He has great technique, often playing the hands and not getting off balance. He has fantastic closing speed and elite change of direction. Keep an eye out as to where Drew ends up committing, because they are getting an absolute dog both on the field, and in the locker room as a leader.

Last season, Northville hit their ceiling as a team, falling to Belleville in the postseason. A large reason why this team performed so well is because of the play and leadership of

. Early in Drew’s high school career, he was a very hard-working prospect who honestly lacked the physical talent of many other prospects. Quickly, Drew improved his athleticism and all-around skillset. After training and competing against the best talent in Michigan, Drew had his breakout season last fall. It all began when he locked up a B1G 10 prospect during Week 1 and continued through his leadership and consistent play all season. This season, Drew and Northville have an opportunity to fly even higher. I fully expect Drew to get off to another hot start during Week 1 vs Lake Orion, and continue his success into a tough matchup vs. Brighton.

I’m happy to see Drew finally getting his flowers. For a long, long time, Drew was a prospect with zero offers who was working his tail off to get where he is now.
Last season was pivotal for Drew’s career. Off the bat, Drew locked up a highly touted D1 prospect at The Big House. There, he showed off his patience, extremely fast feet, great change of direction, and more. Unlike some schools, Drew is also able to rep a lot of 1on1 coverage. I also know that Drew’s testing numbers are quite good, and it 100% backs up his low MAC evaluation. Drew is not the most talented player, but his work ethic makes me extremely confident that he’ll eventually reach his true ceiling in college.

Drew is set for a huge rankings boost. I can name very few players who have worked as hard as Drew has over the past three years. At the start of his HS Football journey, he was an average athlete without too much natural talent. Since then, Drew has worked his tail off, and he’s molded himself into a Division 1 prospect at an extremely challenging position. His 2023 season was one for the books. He began the season by locking up a D1 Tight End and continued the season locking up several other great receivers. Not only that, but his testing numbers back up his performances. Drew holds the Prep Redzone MI Combine record in the L-Drill, and places near the top in the broad jump and shuttle. I’m now officially sold on Drew, and he’s someone I can’t see doing anything except succeeding at the next level.

Drew has been one of the most consistent, hardest workers I’ve ever seen. Finally, his hard work is paying off with offers from Kent State and Wayne State. He truly had to prove himself athletically and on the field to get to this point. Athletically, he posted a 6.91 L-Drill, 102in Broad Jump, and 4.59 Shuttle at our Prep Redzone Camp in December. Last season’s film was by far the best film he’s put out. He exposed a few very highly-touted receivers last season, using his aggressive yet clean ball skills to break up passes. Drew also showed vast improvements in his reaction time and closing speed. He even showed some anticipation, not just reaction. It’s apparent that Drew has improved just about every aspect of his game in the past 365 days, and if he keeps up this relentless hard work, he’ll be a phenomenal D1 college football player. He’s still got one more camp season and Fall season to come, so let’s see if this MAC annention can turn into B1G 10 attention.

The more I watch Drew, the more I’m starting to really think D2 is the floor for this kid. I have now seen him in games and in camps, and he consistently locks down D2 and D1 level receivers. You absolutely cannot argue the results that this kid gets no matter who he is matched up with. Drew is an extremely technically sound DB, who has a clear understanding of the game and his assignments. He does a great job of jamming guys off the line, he does a great job of staying in the hip pocket of his guy, and if there is any separation, he closes it immediately. He wins rep after rep and I really hope these schools are starting to take note.

Rankin earned unanimous Defensive Back MVP Honors at the PRZ MI Stock Up Showcase. The junior from Northville was impressive during the testing portion, boasting a 4.59 short shuttle and a 7.03 L-drill. During individual drills, he was the smoothest back-pedaler in the group, as his technique and footwork shined amongst his peers. Toward the end of the camp, Rankin continually impressed in 1 on 1’s while playing both man and off-coverage. He can transition his hips quickly, cut in and out of breaks, and finish on the ball to take it away from the opposing receiver. Rankin is a can’t-miss prospect who is going to shine in his senior campaign.

Still one of the most impressive performances I have seen all season, Drew put on a clinic on how to defend as the smaller player. Drew completely shut down 2 P5 commits en route to a huge win for Northville. He has really transformed himself to a legitimate DB prospect for the next level, with great closing speed, a high football IQ, and an ability to maintain good leverage at all times. Any college looking for a special player for their secondary needs to put on his film.
