Three interceptions to his name, 3 TFLs, 6 overall pass breakups. All of this being said, the 6'3 Shirley kicks off his tape with an interception that he returns deep into enemy territory. Fantastic middle-of-the-field lurker, a true middle-of-the-field hawk who can capitalize on errant and/or tipped throws. An obvious choice on the defense to insert into the box against heavy fronts. Has the temperament and attitude to be an authoritative presence as a run supporter. Can cover ground well thanks to his stride, enough to make up for poor edge's set up front. Great length that allows for a wide PBU radius. Can break on balls from a perimeter alignment and attack wideout catch points with strong stabs. A feisty corner who wants to prove he can handle much bigger match-ups opposite him, his tape proves he can. Can find the football on it's way down, has natural instincts that help him play the ball. as the pure athletic ability to man-up and stay with elite PCL talent. Can flip his hips and run. First rep is a good indicator for the type of player Brownback is. Exhibits fantastic closing speed, hardly any hesitation from a tone-setting backer who works comfortably behind three down-linemen. Sniffs out play-side runs, can work laterally well enough to get in front of pullers to blow up runs before they can get past the LOS. Love the alignment versatility shown off on tape. One rep you can see Collins working as a traditional OLB in a 3-4 front, next you can see Collins being split out to work in space in more traditional 4-3 looks. As his stats suggest, Collins can drop into curl/flat zones and be a big/disruptive obstacle for QBs. His athletic prowess puts him ahead of several other talented yet one-dimensional backers. Is a missile to the football when he keys and reacts. Will win the majority of his 1v1s in space, breaks down well and understands when to knife/barrel or when to square up and drive. A fantastic sophomore year to build off of.
