I saw more Sweet Home games this season than any other team. On a squad loaded with talent, Wilhelm was a player that undeservedly went unnoticed. Quinten seemingly never left the field. On defense, he was a hard hitting LB/S hybrid while on offense other players were making big play after big play, Quinten grinded away making the tough catches. He was also their starting kicker and made several key contributions on Special Teams.

In his varsity debut, Minter made a big splash racking up 82 tackles (10 for loss) 8 sacks and a fumble recovery for a TD. Kamron is an outside EDGE rusher with a quick first step and fast hands. I expect him to get several accolades as a junior as he can also make contributions as a WR.

Buttitta entered his junior year as a breakout candidate and while his numbers weren't off the charts (44 tackles & 2 INTs), he showed excellent technique in both man-to-man and zone coverages. He will be a player to watch for his senior campaign.

Special Teams was a big part of Sweet Home's success and all season, Shiel was the Panther's Long Snapper. When injuries hit their OL late in the season, Mitchell came on to play Center in their sectional championship run and to the State quarterfinals.

When I first encountered Santoro, he was the Flames shifty RB on their JV team. In his sophomore season, the varsity staff turned him into a prototypical slot WR and return man. Joe is a sound route runner with excellent hands. He moves very well and is twitchy. Santoro finished the season with 32 receptions for 515 yards and 7 scores.

Players to Watch in 2025

There were several other players this season that did not have the impact that was foreseen but I expect many of them to reach their potential in 2025.

West Seneca West had a roller coaster season to say the least. But if there is one thing they have going for them is a plethora of underclassmen with high ceilings. In the trenches, players like [player_tooltip player_id='806889' first='Patrick' last='Allen'], [player_tooltip player_id='1231223' first='Denzel' last='Cenatus'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1345230' first='Brayden' last='Snyder'] cannot go unnoticed. RB [player_tooltip player_id='1344667' first='Jarod' last='Freeman'] had a slow start to the season before getting hurt but still has talent that can push the team. Finally, [player_tooltip player_id='1513378' first='Micah' last='Anderson'] may be the toughest player the Warhawks have; an aggressive RB/LB with speed and solid instincts.

McKinley had a strong run into the Sectional championship game this season and first year QB [player_tooltip player_id='1513356' first='CoTrell' last='Rhodes'] will be a player to watch for as well as big bodied [player_tooltip player_id='1345120' first='Jamiere' last='Hemphill'] on the line.

Sweet Home will try to repeat as sectional champions but many studs from their 2024 team are graduating leaving the door open for athletic DB [player_tooltip player_id='606268' first='Jajuan' last='Williams'] and 6'5 DL [player_tooltip player_id='1364035' first='Alexander' last='Bacon'].
