Every time we do a ranking update, it doesn't take long to figure out that we've left somebody off that not only should be in but should be pretty high up. When it came to our last 2026 update in October, that guy was Norman North offensive lineman [player_tooltip player_id='1626554' first='Daniel' last='McMorris'] after seeing him absolutely explode as a prospect last fall. McMorris looks to be your prototypical offensive tackle that has the type of size and athletic ability that college coaches are hoping to land and then mold into a dominant force on the line of scrimmage. McMorris helped a Norman North offense become one of the better units in Class 6A-1 in 2024. Similar to just about every player on this breakdown, we are fired up to see him in person as soon as possible.

The first of two standouts from Edmond Santa Fe's defense is [player_tooltip player_id='1626555' first='Landen' last='Anderson'] and he's part of a defensive line group within the state's 2026 class that is getting deeper and deeper. This used to be the smallest position group by a large margin but more names are starting to emerge on the defensive line and Anderson is one of them. Anderson is another 2026 prospect that has gone from somewhat of an unknown around the state to earning multiple offers in what feels like overnight. And that's a credit to his game that the college coaches are finding guys like him that have been flying under the radar. Anderson is part of a very talented Edmond Santa Fe defensive line and we think he is just scratching the surface on what he'll be.

Choctaw is quickly becoming a program that people need to take very seriously when it comes to producing defensive backs because they are on an absolute run in the last five years. [player_tooltip player_id='1626556' first='Braylen' last='Taylor'] appears to be the next guy up in a Choctaw 2026 class that isn't lacking solid DB talent. Taylor has absolutely seen his recruitment blow up over the last two months and he's quickly turning into a 2026 prospect that could explode in the spring and summer. Taylor has good size and a good reputation as a teammate from what we have heard from the Choctaw coaches. Taylor is a name that definitely belongs relatively high up but we are very excited to see more of him in person when spring ball rolls around in a few months.

As we mentioned with Anderson, this defensive line position is starting to really explode. Putnam City's [player_tooltip player_id='1607343' first='Tripp' last='Alexander'] is another prospect that's a newcomer to the rankings and just like several of the other guys, he probably should have already been on here. Alexander has seen his recruitment take off and he's already earned a handful of D1 offers since the end of his junior season. Alexander is part of a Putnam City defense that is absolutely loaded with next level talent. Looking at the Pirates on paper, it certainly looks like they have guys at all three levels of the defense that will end up playing D1 football. And it all starts up front with Alexander and he's coming off a monster junior season where he was an absolute terror to opposing offenses.

Edmond Santa Fe's [player_tooltip player_id='1051130' first='Trey' last='Sherrod'] was already on our radar to become a newcomer in this latest ranking update but it was also fitting after we got a chance to see him go to work up close at a camp recently. He lived up to the hype. Sherrod has become one of the top defensive backs to watch in the state's 2026 class but he made it a point to go to work at the wide receiver position and he had a really strong showing at the Under Armour camp in north Texas. Sherrod is the second Edmond Santa Fe defensive standout on this breakdown so we're buying stock in the Wolves going into 2025. They have quite a few talented prospects on the defensive side of the ball in this 2026 class and they're all names to remember moving forward.
