Time to look at our Top 5 quarterbacks within our South Dakota 2026 rankings. What I love most about this group is the amount of small town gunslingers are on this list as four of five quarterbacks hail from towns that are 1250 people or less.

Looking for a 2026 quarterback that has ideal measurables and sound upside, you will want to look at our QB5 in South Dakota in Parker's [player_tooltip player_id='1224699' first='Landon' last='Wieman']. I have been impressed with the growth of Landon's arm talent from his sophomore to junior season, as he has improved his arch of his throws and grown too with his precision too in my eyes. I can guauge too his progresson speed has elevated as well gradually and surely could take another step into his senior season as a small town quarterback that surely looks like a scholarship-level target in my eyes. Twitter

A 2026 stockriser into the QB4 spot highly due to his QB MVP performance at our Prep Redzone Dakotas Showcase this winter is [player_tooltip player_id='1422340' first='Talen' last='Black'], who will head to Sioux Falls Washington this fall with what the most stacked wide receiving core in the state easily. Talen brought more with his athletic movement outside of the pocket at our Prep Redzone Dakotas Showcase than I was expecting, and ran a very impressive 4.59 40 yard dash as this young man is cool as a cucumber outside of the pocket with his arm talent on all three levels with great use of his legs. Talen also has a sound football IQ as a target inside our top 35 that I have no doubt heading over to Washington could move into the hunt of QB2 or QB3 by end of the summer into fall. Twitter

Brady is one that between now and end of July, I expect his stock to move swiftly on the camp trail as he is the type of QB fit that translates an FCS fit in my eyes especially at the likes of SDSU. Brady is very gifted mechanically and shows off a great finish in those mechanics. Brady's development of his mechanics has significantly risen year by year since his freshmen year at Viborg-Hurley. Brady has in my eyes some of the best pinpoint accuracy in this 2026 class especially on intermediate and deep routes. He also is probably the biggest nightmare with his great mobility at 6'3 190 pounds within this QB group as sometimes when Brady makes throws out uses his legs out of the pocket his athleticism turns into almost video game like in our eyes and I know we are not the first ones to call that out. This young man is going to be a fun one to track this summer. Twitter

What I love about this group of top 2026 QBs in South Dakota is how it is dominated by small town talent including our new QB2 [player_tooltip player_id='1568226' first='Jackson' last='Wadsworth'] out of Hamlin. In 2024, Jackson won a state title, completed 74% of his passes, and had a 17.5 touchdown to interception ratio, which is an absurd stat at any level of high school football. The 6'2 195 pounder has one of the fastest releases and biggest arms in the state and it doesn't take long for Jackson to show it on tape. He certainly shows off great arm talent on all three levels as his throwing motion is like a dominating closer on the mound that throws heat, but surely Jackson hammers down in the pocket with his accuracy. Jackson is surely another 2026 quarterback that I am fired up to see how his summer turns out at camps.

Remember how I said how the amount of small school South Dakota quarterbacks is at a premium in this 2026 class? Hailing from Centerville, SD (pop. 918) is one that has been on our radar since his freshman season at the Augustana prospect camp, QB1 [player_tooltip player_id='825396' first='Alec' last='Austin']. Logging a whopping 2700 passing yards as a junior, Alec shows off a slick off platform throw on an intermediate route right from the getco that you can see the clutch instincts he has making that read last second for a touchdown. Alec has also has grasped impressive chemistry with his wide receivers especially with his deep throws and knowing this young man's excellent character I am sure that charisma with any new wide receiver will build up fast at the next level. The level of difficulty of Alec's throws from the run is also why he continues as our QB1 as I love his operation in tight windows on those deep throws.
