Austin is one of the top QB’s in all of the Dakotas. This past Friday, Alec led the Tornadoes in a blowout win over Irene-Wakonda 55-0. The stud signal caller threw three TD’s and passed for 93 yards. Nobody will want to play Centerville in the playoffs; they can play with anyone in 9A. In hoops, Austin is a tough matchup due to his athleticism and ability to score from inside and out. Expect a big senior season from Alec.

Alec I could grasp had the “chip on his shoulder” mentality after our December’s Dakotas Showcase, wanting to go for his second QB MVP last Saturday, and he got it done by continuing to grow his development from the live eval on Saturday as our QB1 in the 2026 class. His growth athletically was well-noted too not just by me, but the college coaches in attendance, taking down his 40-yard dash time to a 4.87 as a verified 6’3, 219 pound gunslinger. I could also grasp from my live eval, that Alec seemed more elusive with his pocket movement, starting off his day with a 4.37 in the pro agility. Even by the early look I had a head of testing, Alec appeared with much more dexterity which was great to see. Watching his mechanics, Alec appeared in my eyes more robotic with his throwing motion and displayed that arm-talent on all three levels in Aberdeen on Saturday. That nearly robotic motion, ball placement, elite size, is going to create some shockwaves this summer at college camps as Alec surely had the attention of all three levels of college football with their eyes on him last Saturday.

The verified 6’3 215 pounder from Centerville, has one of the calmest demeanors under duress in the Dakotas as his outside pocket ability translates well to the next-level. Alec has excelled over the past couple years with his tight window throws and possesses the practical arm strength with gauging different reads. Hopefully this Saturday’s Prep Redzone Dakotas Showcase accumulates more next-level opportunities for Alec as he is surprisely more under the radar in his recruitment than he should be in my eyes.

Logging a whopping 2700 passing yards as a junior, Alec shows off a slick off platform throw on an intermediate route right from the getco that you can see the clutch instincts he has making that read last second for a touchdown. Alec has also has grasped impressive chemistry with his wide receivers especially with his deep throws and knowing this young man’s excellent character I am sure that charisma with any new wide receiver will build up fast at the next level. The level of difficulty of Alec’s throws from the run is also why he continues as our QB1 as I love his operation in tight windows on those deep throws.

We have seen the grown of Alec every summer at camps, and I felt last summer he put the nail in the coffin with his camp performances to draw our nod as QB1 with his developing mechanics, ball fits in tighter angles, and you have to love a quarterback with the high character that Alec has. Thus far this season, I see not only deeper arm strength and more depth on his intermediate routes, but at 6’3 205 pounds the mobility Alec shows in the pocket shows off the improviser I want from my quarterback at the next level. His hometown might be under 1000 people, but man I love the Division I fit this young man has as another small town gem that this great state offers so much of.
