QB Factory QB & WR Eval Night: QB Prospects Spotlight

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>I was out at the QB Factory QB &amp; WR workouts this past Sunday night and got see a lot of quality talent come out and perform while working on their craft. Coach Baucia and his staff are some of the best QB coaches in the area, and seeing these guys work to improve their mechanics / skill set allows me extra insight into their game and development as prospects. He lead a talented SFA squad to an 8-3 record against some of the top teams in the country, and he rated highly in his performances this season.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph {"placeholder":"Add evaluation here...","className":"text-gray-700"} --> <p class="text-gray-700">The feature that stands out most about Tristan's game is his live arm. Able to throw off platform/multiple arm angles he gets great zip and velocity on his passes. His deep ball comes out with spin and is a dart, able to layer it over the defenders and hit his WR in stride. A strong runner with a 4.6 40, Tristan can get big gains off of designed runs or scrambling out of the pocket. To add on that, has continued to fill out his frame and get stronger allowing him to be tougher to bring down when running with the ball or evading rush in the pocket. However, he is not a run first QB. Tristan keeps his eyes down field and excels in throwing on the run. Able to flip &amp; get power from his hips when throwing on the run, he gets the ball out quick with speed and celerity. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph {"placeholder":"Add evaluation here...","className":"text-gray-700"} --> <p class="text-gray-700">A QB that is a playmaker, with a strong arm where the ball jumps out his hand. He is accurate, shows polished footwork mechanics in the pocket and when on the move. You can tell he is a hard worker, who plays with a high football IQ and decision making skills. Tristan is a QB that should not be slept on by colleges going forward. You saw him progress and get more comfortable in the system in his first year at CH after transferring in from Woodgrove HS (VA).</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph {"placeholder":"Add evaluation here...","className":"text-gray-700"} --> <p class="text-gray-700">A QB with good height, length, and a solid frame with wide shoulders that will continue to fill out with good muscle. He is also a a strong runner with the ball. A reported 4.6, Oliver can scramble out of the pocket, elusive enough to make defenders miss and strong enough to power through guys and run past arm tackles. In the pocket, he stands tall with eyes down field and has the ability to get the ball down the seam with power. I like Oliver's ability to make quick decisions and reads. Out a spread offense with a lot of RPO/quick throws, He makes the right reads and does it quickly/quickly for maximum results. A smart player, he is capable of running and offense and leading his team down the field.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>As Oliver continues to develop his skill set/body and get more reps under his belt - I see him rising up rankings list and have more and more coaches take notice of his game and potential. He transfers into DeMatha after being at Bishop McNamara and looks to take over as the main guy for the Stags next season.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A nice size QB with a thick strong build and good height, Trysten can beat defenses multiple ways. He is a capable runner and athlete. Able to pick up big chunks of yards with legs and run effective in the power QB run game. He possesses nice arm strength, able to push the ball vertically down the field. A capable thrower on the run as well, he can hit his target with accuracy while being chased. Trysten is a QB who has the arm strength for the next level, while throwing a catchable ball. He shows the ability to get through his progressions and make correct reads when in the pocket. I would like to see Trysten continues to improve his arm mechanics that will lead to a quicker release and increased velocity. He lead Decatur to an undefeated season while also quarterbacking a State Title winning drive, delivering a gorgeous ball for the game winning TD. On the year, Johnny finished with over 2,200 passing yards, 33 TDs with only 3 interceptions for the entire season. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph {"placeholder":"Add evaluation here...","className":"text-gray-700"} --> <p class="text-gray-700">A QB who gets the ball out quickly, accurately, and makes the right reads...Johnny can run an offense with precision. He can throw with nice zip or touch. Able to throw a catchable ball that hits the receiver in stride right in the hands. He doesn't just "throw"the ball, he is a passer! He can manipulate the defense, putting the ball where it needs to be, and changing throwing speeds. Johnny shows high level arm mechanics and footwork in the pocket. That may come from him being a high level baseball player as well. He can throw a baseball from the outfield at 89mph and has a fastball velocity of 86.2mph, rating 3rd and 6th in the state respectively. This is just another metric that shows the overall arm talent Johnny possesses. He isn't just a sit back and pass it QB though, he can run with power and throws well on the move as well. A tough player, he can still get the pass off with guys around his feet or while taking a hit. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph {"placeholder":"Add evaluation here...","className":"text-gray-700"} --> <p class="text-gray-700">A player like Johnny is one to not sleep on as his skill set translates to the next level. He lead St. Albans to their first DCSAA Championship this past season and put up huge numbers in doing so. With over 3,400 passing yards and 37 TDs on a 68% completion percentage, Brett is another strong QB prospect in the 2027 Class.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A QB with a high football IQ and sound throwing mechanics, it is no wonder why Brett was able to put together such a strong season. He throws with timing and anticipation, able to layer the ball over defenders and getting great touch on the ball. He gets it up and down with nice velocity, trajectory, and accuracy. Brett is quick to make the correct read and deliver the ball where it needs to be for his receiver to make the play.
