Johnson was voted co-Offensive Player of the Year for the DCSAA Class A division (Bell’s Jakari Graham was the other selection). With the type of season he had, it was no surprise. He completed 153-of-245 passes for 2,457 yards, 34 touchdowns, and seven interceptions. Johnson carried the football 125 times for 1,206 yards and 13 touchdowns. He’s earned the right to be called one of the best quarterbacks in the DMV. Maret lost its top four receivers to graduation. While they may be able to replace some of that production, there’s no question that Johnson will most likely have to carry most of the load on offense again this season. His most recent D-1 offer came from The Citadel on July 10th.

Trysten was lights out in all areas at the showcase. In testing, drill work and 1v1s he made his mark. In testing he ran a 4.74 laser 40 and broad jumped 9’7″, both excellent numbers for his position. Trystan showed excellent footwork in position drills, being able to get everything into throwing on the run and a quick release. In 1v1s as well as all day long Trysten displayed excellent velocity on his passes and the ability to launch it downfield with accuracy. Overall Trysten is a dual threat QB that makes plays all over the field and puts up big numbers. I know plenty of colleges have eyes on Trysten after the NP Showcase and I wouldn’t be surprised to see an offer come his way soon.

As a runner, he’s explosive but smart, picking his spots, hitting creases, and turning scrambles into big gains without unnecessary contact. As a passer, he plays with confidence and touch, especially down the field, giving his receivers real chances on fades, seams, and vertical shots.

In the red zone, his ball placement stands out, consistently putting the ball where only his receiver can make a play.

Johnson shows a calm presence in the pocket, staying patient, seeing the field clearly, and delivering on time when pressure shows up. When plays break down, he stays dangerous, keeping his eyes up, throwing accurately on the move, or taking off when lanes open.

With added strength and continued refinement against tighter coverage, Johnson will be an even more attractive prospect. The production speaks for itself, and his highlights show that he’s a quarterback who does it all for his team.

Trysten has been having an excellent season for the Maret Frogs this fall and proved it once again last weekend with a huge game in their 57-22 win over Flint Hill (VA). For the game he passed for over 300 yds and 5 TDs while also rushing for 172 yds and 1 TD.

A true dual threat QB, he is able to pick up big chunks of yards with legs and is excellent in the QB read / RPO game. Trysten possesses nice arm strength, able to push the ball vertically down the field. He put that on display all game long with multiple deep balls down the seam for scores. A capable thrower on the run as well, he can hit his target with accuracy while being chased. Trysten is putting his name into the list of top QBs in the area for the 2027 class & should be a prospect who’s recruiting takes off this spring.

My first time getting live eyes on Trysten year, there was a lot to like about his potential. He transfers into DeMatha after being at Bishop McNamara and looks to take over as the main guy for the Stags next season.

A nice size QB with a thick strong build and good height, Trysten can beat defenses multiple ways. He is a capable runner and athlete. Able to pick up big chunks of yards with legs and run effective in the power QB run game. He possesses nice arm strength, able to push the ball vertically down the field. A capable thrower on the run as well, he can hit his target with accuracy while being chased. Trysten is a QB who has the arm strength for the next level, while throwing a catchable ball. He shows the ability to get through his progressions and make correct reads when in the pocket. I would like to see Trysten continues to improve his arm mechanics that will lead to a quicker release and increased velocity. Overall, Trysten is another 2027 QB with tons of potential and will be big time prospect for the future.
