With the type of season he had, it was no surprise. He completed 153-of-245 passes for 2,457 yards, 34 touchdowns, and seven interceptions. Johnson carried the football 125 times for 1,206 yards and 13 touchdowns. He's earned the right to be called one of the best quarterbacks in the DMV. Maret lost its top four receivers to graduation. While they may be able to replace some of that production, there's no question that Johnson will most likely have to carry most of the load on offense again this season. He's undersized for the position but more than makes up for it with speed, great pursuit, and better-than-average pass coverage in zone. A true sideline-to-sideline player who excels at shooting the gaps to make plays behind the line of scrimmage. I'm impressed with his closing speed as well. Per his hudl highlights, he broke up 12 passes and had a pick-six last season. One of the things I like about Brown is his willingness to come downhill in support against the run and make solid tackles. Of course, I love the fact that he shows on film that he can be effective in zone, off-man, and press coverage. On a few plays, he shows his closing speed downfield and is able to break up passes at it's highest point. Impressed with ability to make fluid transitions despite his height (no tight hips). I had a hunch that despite him being a little undersized at safety, he probably isn't afraid to come up and hit someone. Sure enough, there are more than a few plays with him coming downhill to make solid, open-field tackles against the run. It may not be his "natural" position, but I think Jackson, at this time, looks very comfortable when he's lined up at the edge and allowed to attack whoever has the football. Which makes sense; he's a young football player. He was durable last season, despite going up against bigger offensive lineman across from him. Very competitive, able to take advantage of his speed at times to avoid blocks and make plays, and make secure tackles.
