As the offseason is here Specialists from across the state of Kansas from Freshman to Seniors have been participating in recruiting events to put them in a better position for college recruiting. Recently in the state of Kansas there was an event where 50 plus Specialists from the state of Kansas and surrounding states came to one location to compete against each other. At the camp on 12/7 the athletes are ranked on the data their swing produces using the Trackman football technology. Trackman measures different things in a Kicker/Punter swing like ball speed, height at the line of scrimmage, good from distance of the kick, hang time/distance for punters. etc. For Snappers they were ranked on how they did with charting on field goals, punts, and covering on punt reps. Those numbers are then put into a formula to rank a Kicker out of 100. According to Snyder Kicking any score above 85 translates well to the Division 1 level based on the averages a Division 1 Kicker/Punter produces on the Trackman. For Snappers this score still applies but not from the Trackman. We take a deep dive of the guys who stood out from the state of Kansas at the Specialist position from this event.

2025 Kicker Alejandro from Sunrise Christian Academy was turning heads while at the competition. An unknown Specialist originally from Spain who moved to Wichita, KS to pursue a dream to play American football. Alejandro displayed excellent ball striking throughout the whole camp. He was consistently around 68 MPH with his ball speed, which compared to the average of a Division 1 player of 65 MPH he's right there with them. During the charting he went 10/10 with a Long Good from of 60 yards! Alejandro's soccer background has done good things for his kicking form. Now the next process is to find a school for the Specialist to play at next fall.

The Freshman from Derby High School had a heck of a day competing. He showed some grit and mental toughness by handing around with the older guys in charting and long ball competition. Tripp was the youngest Kicker there who made it to the 2nd stage of the long ball charting against the older guys. As a Freshman he was averaging 55 plus MPH of ball speed each kick which is well ahead of other Freshman who were at the camp. His ball contact is elite for his age and he showcased how he can hang with the older guys. Lookout for Tripp being more a weapon for the Derby Panthers next year as he continues to grow and get stronger in his kicking craft.

Our first Snapper who really showed in the camp was by far [player_tooltip player_id='1214919' first='Austin' last='Cornett'] from Blue Valley. On FG's and Punt snaps he consistently was snapping the ball in the right areas. Punt snap times were mid to low .7 seconds range. He even showcased his coverage skills by snapping the ball then sprinting down in coverage. Playing LB in High School really showed as he was doing the coverage portion of the camp. Austin who is Senior right now is looking for a place to play. He has had some interest from Division 1 and Junior College schools. He has expressed he wouldn't mind going to a Junior College for a year to develop more.

Freshman Snapper Brandon Lutz of Lawrence Free State really stood out as a Snapper at the event. he comes from a family of snappers as his older brother Justin Lutz, who played at Iowa Western CC this past season (just recently committed to Weber State University), really showcased the same abilities his brother showcased at his age. For a Freshman he was extremely accurate in the punting and FG snaps. He did not see any Varsity time this year, but I project Brandon to see some varsity action next year as he starts filling out and growing.

The Gardner Edgerton product showcased why he is ranked the #1 Kicker in the class of 2026. Ball speed and height at the LOS was dialed in during the charting. Kickoffs have improved from where he was at during the season. He showcased more hang time and ball speed due to his foot contact getting better. One of the coaches at the event noticed his steps being a little off. Once the coach dialed in his steps he looked more smooth and effortless through the ball. I project this Kicker to pick up some serious college interest heading into next year. He scored 92/100 which is well above the D1 threshold as a Kicker.

Seth was up there as one of the most under the radar type guys at the event. The senior from Garden Plains High School not many people had heard of him, even though he connected on 2 50 plus yard FG's this year during games. Seth went 9/10 during the charting portion and showcased his mental side by bouncing back and connecting on his final 4 kicks after missing his lone kick earlier. Seth scored a 83/100 and is right on the borderline of the D1 threshold. I project him playing at the D2 or Junior College for 2 seasons before moving up to the D1 level. Seth has all the tangibles to be a great Kicker in college somewhere. The school who takes a chance on him will be very happy with their decision when he arrives on campus in the fall.
