Prep Redzone Iowa kicked off the holiday week by dropping a rankings update for the 2025 Class. It's been a fun group on which to report. We couldn't let these guys move on without recognition beyond the rankings.

Here are our awards and superlatives for the 2025 Class:

MOST OUTSTANDING PLAYER - OFFENSE

[player_tooltip player_id='245608' first='Jack' last='Wallace'], QB, Iowa City West

The four-year varsity starter saved his best for last. He completed 70.5 percent of his passes for 2,792 yards and 33 touchdowns against only four interceptions. He rushed for 428 yards and eight scores.

Honorable Mention: [player_tooltip player_id='1280497' first='Braeden' last='Jackson'], RB, Centennial; [player_tooltip player_id='847948' first='Mason' last='Woods'], WR, Iowa City West; [player_tooltip player_id='252221' first='Alex' last='Manske'], QB, Algona; [player_tooltip player_id='1280019' first='Davarrion' last='Clark'], RB, Cedar Falls; [player_tooltip player_id='1129677' first='Dallas' last='Miller'], WR, Iowa City Liberty; [player_tooltip player_id='847795' first='Xzavion' last='Robinson'], WR, West Des Moines Valley; [player_tooltip player_id='848086' first='Dylan' last='Muszynski'], RB, Linn-Mar; [player_tooltip player_id='1320126' first='Harrison' last='Fierce'], QB, Pleasant Valley; [player_tooltip player_id='252314' first='Will' last='Hawthorne'], RB, Gilbert.

MOST OUTSTANDING PLAYER - DEFENSE

[player_tooltip player_id='640854' first='Cooper' last='Martinson'], DL, Southeast Polk

Martinson was arguably the best player on a team that three-peated in '24. Using a non-stop motor, he proved to contain. Martinson racked up 67 solo tackles with 10.0 tackles for loss and a pair of sacks.

Honorable Mention: [player_tooltip player_id='847937' first='Thomas' last='Meyer'], DE, Clear Lake; [player_tooltip player_id='252334' first='Jack' last='Limbaugh'], DL, Algona; [player_tooltip player_id='1361745' first='Wyatt' last='Young'], DL, Cedar Rapids Washington; [player_tooltip player_id='1279701' first='Micah' last='Cook'], DL, Johnston; [player_tooltip player_id='1589904' first='Andrew' last='Price'], LB, West Des Moines Valley; [player_tooltip player_id='1280007' first='Amari' last='Washington'], DL, Bettendorf; Kane Brockman, DL, Southeast Polk.

BREAKOUT PERFORMER

[player_tooltip player_id='254611' first='Holden' last='Hansen'], QB, Southeast Polk

Hansen finally became the starter in 2024 after backing up Connor Moberly, who won two state titles before heading to Iowa State. Hansen helped keep the run going, guiding the Rams to a three-peat this Fall. He completed 67.9 percent of his passes for 2532 yards and 22 touchdowns, adding 11 scores on the ground.

MOST DISRUPTIVE

[player_tooltip player_id='1361745' first='Wyatt' last='Young'], DL, Cedar Rapids Washington

The Warrior defender topped Class 5A in tackles for loss (20.5) and sacks (12.5). Young's senior highlights reveal how he accumulated the gaudy statistics - by disrupting the proceedings of the opposing offense. At 6-3, 220 pounds, Young has a frame that can add strength and bulk without losing his burst.

MOST EXPLOSIVE RB

[player_tooltip player_id='1280497' first='Braeden' last='Jackson'], Ankeny Centennial

Jackson averaged 8.1 yards on 173 carries and 15.2 yards on 19 receptions. It added up to 1,685 total yards and 25 touchdowns. Two of his five kick returns resulted in touchdowns, including a 98-yarder. He averaged 31.5 yards on a pair of punt returns.

MOST EXPLOSIVE WR

[player_tooltip player_id='847795' first='Xzavion' last='Robinson'], West Des Moines Valley

Not always at full speed this season, Robinson remained among the most dangerous in the state with the ball in his hands. The Iowa State recruit mixes a complete skill-set at receiver as a sure-handed intermediate route-runner with the speed to get deep. That latter showed up on special teams, too. Robinson averaged 33.1 yards on 15 kick returns, housing three of them.

TOP POSITION IN 2025

Defensive Line

It's close between the two sides of the trench, but the D-Line wins out based on overall talent and depth. Despite [player_tooltip player_id='252334' first='Jack' last='Limbaugh'] (Iowa State) being the lone Power 4 commitment among the group, successful Group of 5 and FCS programs mined the state at the position. Don't be surprised if guys like [player_tooltip player_id='252329' first='Brody' last='Clubb'] (NDSU), [player_tooltip player_id='1278806' first='Ethan' last='Wood'] (NDSU), [player_tooltip player_id='1279701' first='Micah' last='Cook'] (NIU) and [player_tooltip player_id='1280007' first='Amari' last='Washington'] ((NIU) raise their stock on the next level. There are others fitting that description beyond that foursome.
