Dudley at JM Robinson - Offensive Standouts

Dudley won a tight and highly tense football game 20-7 over the JM Robinson Bulldogs in the 3rd round of the State Playoffs in Concord. Dudley faced their biggest test of the year, being down 7-0 for three quarters to the Bulldogs until their offense came alive in the 4th quarter with 20 big points. There were several offensive standouts from both teams, we will take a look at them in this article.    Nasir was a physically impressive receiver up close, and he made a touchdown catch on a fade route in the end zone with 8 minutes left to go in the game to give Dudley a 14-7 lead, a lead they would never relinquish. The Liberty commit showed the ability to high point the football on both sides of the ball, as he also made the game-clinching interception on the Bulldogs' last offensive possession.     Koredell is committed to play college football at Wake Forest, and he showed why on Dudley's final offensive possession, where he slammed any hope Robinson had with a 90 yard touchdown run which sent the Bulldog fans to their vehicles. The play occurred on a 3rd and 5 where Robinson needed a stop in order to get the ball back down 14-7 with a shot to tie or win the game. Koredell is a receiver, but showed his versatility in sliding into the backfield in two back sets. Koredell also showed blazing speed in the open field. Very impressive.     The Howard commit made probably what was the biggest play of the game, which was a 32 yard TD reception on the first play of the 4th quarter to tie the game up at 7-7. CJ did an excellent job of winning against man coverage, high-pointing the football in the endzone on a fade route. Once Dudley tied the game, momentum quickly swung their way.     The Panthers played two quarterbacks in this game - I thought Brayden was the more effective one in terms of giving their offense some juice. Brayden is a dual-threat QB and his ability to run and extend plays allowed for their talented receivers to break free for some important catches to keep the chains moving in the 2nd half.     The Bulldogs' dual-threat QB got their only touchdown very early in the first quarter on their first possession on a zone-read run where he kept the ball and ran it in from five yards out. I thought Jon did as good of a job as he could being under a lot of pressure from a talented Dudley defense who came into the game only giving up 15 points all season. Jon was able to hit a few passes to his talented receiving core to keep the heat on Dudley throughout the game.     The Gamecock commit was the leading receiver for the Bulldogs in this game, however it was hard for Brian to break loose for his noteworthy big plays due to the speed and attention the Panthers defense kept on him all night long. Brian didn't get to be a factor in the kick return game either, as the Panthers never kicked the ball to him directly.     I wanted to note Tristan because of his overall physicality - the lines of scrimmage were a war in this game, and Tristan stood out because he blocked to the echo of the whistle consistently all night long. With his physical size and mentality, I don't have any doubts he is a college-level offensive lineman in his bright future.
