Entering Week 4, [player_tooltip player_id='1514902' first='Damone' last='Harden'] had not registered a tackle but he came in huge in their intense rivalry against Canisius. St. Joe's would end up losing the game 24-17 but Harden's breakout performance of 10 tackles (3 for loss) and an INT kept them in the game and he proved he can play at a high level even as a sophomore.

West Seneca West has had a rough start to 2024 and it didn't look any better when the Warhawk's leading back left their Week 4 game from what appeared to be a significant injury. Enter [player_tooltip player_id='1513378' first='Micah' last='Anderson'], a relatively unknown prospect who made his presence known immediately. Anderson led the team with 87 yards from scrimmage and tied for the most receptions with 3. He was also all over the field on defense with 7 tackles. This is a player that is just getting going and will be player to watch in the second half of the season.

Hard to say [player_tooltip player_id='806683' first='Deontay' last='Rodgers'] had a "breakout" game because he has been a steady presence for Kenmore West all season. But Week 4 was a huge game for Rodgers has he ran for 159 yards on just 10 carries and 1 TD. He also added a pick six to his statistical output. In 4 games, Deontay has 377 yards from scrimmage and 4 TDs. He has also been a menace on defense leading the Blue Devils with 31 tackles and 2 INTs (both for TDs).

[player_tooltip player_id='1364031' first='Cal' last='Rogers'] was one of the few freshman that made an impact on his team in 2023 so he was poised for a breakout season this year. While he did look good at times during the first 3 games of his sophomore season, it was a huge Week 4 win against Starpoint that was his big breakout game. Rogers ran for 86 yards and 1 TD on the ground, while leading the Spartans in receiving with 5 catches for 52 yards. He also added 7 tackles and 2 sacks on defense.

2023 was a big season for [player_tooltip player_id='807022' first='Rob' last='Gillette'] as a QB for Lake Shore so he is not a new name in Section VI. However, this past spring Gillette broke his leg running track so a comeback was uncertain. Gillette did return in Week 2 of this season as the Eagles RB but it was his week 4 performance that showed his leg is healed and he is ready to be a big part of the team's plans. Rob ran for 118 yards and added 6 tackles, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery for a TD in their 32-12 win over Cheektowaga.

[player_tooltip player_id='1283662' first='Eric' last='Abernathy Jr'] is another player that has been steady all season but his 242 all-purpose yards and 3 TDs (2 on kick return) and 5 tackles was a big day for the senior. McKinley has started off to a 4-0 start and Abernathy has been a big part of that.

After rushing for almost 1,000 yards as a junior, I was expecting a big season from Douglas Hunt. He did start the season with two quiet 100 yard performances but in week 4, Hunt went off for 198 yards on the ground and 4 rushing TDs

Ben Partell has been getting better and better throughout the season but did not have a major impact in Alden's 3-0 start. In week 4, however, Partell ran for 153 yards (202 all-purpose yards) and 3 TDs. The Bulldogs enter week 5 unbeaten and how Partell's performance influences their game planning is yet to be seen.
