Sun Valley at Marvin Ridge – Overall Standouts

This game showed why as he had over 100 receiving yards and two touchdowns in the victory. Noah did a good job of getting the ball out of his hands quickly on a series of quick-hitting pass plays. Zach also had a couple of nice catches out of the backfield, winning against linebackers in man coverage. Most impressive was Zach's play on defense as a linebacker. Andrew also made a beautiful catch on a deep ball which setup what ended up being the game-winning touchdown for Sun Valley. He helped keep the Marvin Ridge running game in check, shedding blocks and making tackles in the inside run game through the night. The Mavericks tried to run a wheel route to their running back, and Cole picked him up in man coverage. Cole played coverage well on the play, and the ball came right to him for the interception to seal the game. Alex made a couple of nice catches in this game - he had a nice catch and run on a screen pass on the last drive which helped give the Mavericks a chance for the comeback victory. Sun Valley showed him a good bit of attention defensively, which made it hard to make a ton of plays. Zach scored the only touchdown for Marvin Ridge, catching a nice pass in the seam from about 25 yards out. Zach is a true three down back because of that threat he loses as a receiver. As a runner, he does a good job of following his blocks and accelerating through the hole with the right timing. I thought Manny anchored well and didn't get pushed off the ball at his defensive end spot. In this one I thought Montgomery did a good job of working in tandem with his linemen in the run game. Montgomery is an athletic player and he showed that he could climb 2nd level and get on blocks on linebackers.
