As the 2024 regular season starts to wind down this is the start of a series where I will take a look at players that I expect to catch recruiting fire. We're at a point we're almost all players should have at least a half a season's worth of game film put down. Aside from grades and character traits and good film or everything when it comes to the recruiting game.

2025 RB [player_tooltip player_id='1410786' first='Gracen' last='Goldsmith'] (Hamilton) 5'10 200- Goldsmith, who was a player who was very under the radar coming into this season. It's time now that all the coaches know about him. He's a late bloomer who has only played 2 years of HS football. That being said he's a Power 4 caliber talent. He's a violent between the tackles runner who has the ability to make sudden and explosive cuts that makes guys miss. When he gets out into the open field, he has the speed to pull away from defenders and hit the home run. Any and all D1 programs who need a running back in their 2025 class absolutely should be taking a long hard look at Gracen.

2026 LB [player_tooltip player_id='1179208' first='Derek' last='Uran'] (Eder) 6'2 195- Uran is a fun watch on film. He is a unique blend of size, speed, and athleticism. At the line of scrimmage, he's explosive and downhill. His ability to change direction, bend and dip make him a terror off of the edge. What really separates him in my opinion, though is his speed. Because of his speed he can cover large parts of the field in both the run and passing games. When he gets to the play, he's not just making the tackle, he's looking to separate man from ball. Derek looks comfortable in both man or zone schemes. Uran currently holds one D1 offer from Central Michigan, but I expect his D1 and P4 recruitment to explode in the very near future once coaches have a chance to evaluate his 2024 film.

2026 OL [player_tooltip player_id='1095035' first='Pete' last='Eglitis'] (Bishop Watterson) 6'7 280- Watterson is off to an 8-0 start and is one of the best teams in Division 3, if not the state of Ohio. Eglitis is one of the major players on the Eagles offense. At 6'7 280, Eglitis possesses elite length and frame to play the left tackle position at the P4 level. He has a great anchor and feet in his pass set. He has the upper body to violently finish his blocks. In the run game he has the athleticism to pull and get to the second level while making dominating blocks. I said that last season and I'll say it now the traits and the film match, Eglitis is a big time P4 caliber offensive tackle. As his end of season film begins to get out there, I expect the offers to come rolling in for this talented junior offensive tackle.

2026 DB [player_tooltip player_id='1317990' first='Makhi' last='Boone'] (Saint Edward) 6'0 175- when is a versatile cornerback who's comfortable in both press and off-man coverage. He has the footwork in athleticism to mirror talented receivers. He has the length and the body control to make high-level plays on the ball rather than playing the man. He's one of the stronger cornerbacks you'll see in run support. He has great instincts and his explosive coming up to make plays at or behind the line of scrimmage. Boone is it as flashy as some quarterbacks you'll see but has all of the talent and dependability that a coach could want. I would be surprised if his recruitment wouldn't start to takeoff in the very near future.

2026 LB [player_tooltip player_id='1410814' first='Ryan' last='Stolarski'] (Avon) 6'2 220- Stolarski is everything you look for in a Mike Linebacker in 2024. In the run game, he plays fast and he plays violent. He gets downhill quickly and takes great angles to the ball. In the past game, he is a high-level blitzer who can shoot the A or B gaps and get to the quarterback in a hurry. He's also comfortable in zone coverage where he positions himself well and is able to break up passes. After another postseason by Avon I expect Ryan's recruitment to takeoff this off-season.

2026 [player_tooltip player_id='1084960' first='Matthew' last='Ponatoski'] (Moeller) 6'2 190- Archbishop Moeller is off to a 7-1 record with an offense that's averaging 42 points per game over the last 4 games. Ponatoski is the signal caller for that Crusaders offense. He had a strong offseason pulling offers from Cincinnati and Purdue. Matthew has followed his good summer camp season with a strong junior campaign. When I saw him throw live this summer what stuck out to me was his ability to drive the ball into windows. You see that ability in the throws he makes in the games as well. Ponatoski does a good job with his pre-snap and post-snap reads deciphering where he needs to go with the ball. He feels pressure well and has good footwork and ability to move around the pocket to avoid the rush. The film and the production are on point. I expect the interest to take off as this season continues to wind down.
