Ja'Darius was my offensive player of the game for the Blue Devils. He scored a rushing touchdown in the first quarter and provided most of the yardage on a drive that went about 65 yards total. Ja'Darius also had a run at the end of the game that gave the Blue Devils a first down and allowed them to run out the clock and seal the victory. I spoke with Ja'Darius after the game.

Brody played an efficient game in this one - I think he did a good job of not making many mistakes and taking what the Providence defense gave him, which wasn't a lot in all honesty. Brody did have a touchdown run in the 3rd quarter which helped widen the Blue Devils lead to 15-6 at the time. Providence had him under pressure on several occasions and he was able to scramble away for positive yardage. Brody did show some nice accuracy in the short and medium passing game and kept the chains moving on some critical downs.

Dominic made several important catches that kept the chains moving around on drives where the Blue Devils got points. Dominic won consistently in man coverage against the Providence secondary, and he showed strong hands to make those catches. He has been a big play threat throughout the season, but this game showed that he can make those important possession catches in clutch situations.

Gavin had a couple of catches on some early downs that showed he is a reliable receiver and can get open against linebackers and safeties in the middle of the field. Gavin also showed some good blocking on the edge of the defense on some outside zone plays that Mooresville had some success with off-tackle. Gavin is a true 3-down tight end that has soft hands and can work well in the short passing game.

I haven't seen much of Keland live as a wide receiver, but I came away very impressed with him in this game. Keland has excellent speed and he showed that off on a 30 yard touchdown pass, beating a talented Mooresville DB in man-coverage. Keland also had a couple of nice catches over the middle where he was able to catch and run, making defenders miss as he picked up additional yardage. Keland also had an impressive punt return where he showed great vision with the football in his hands. Given his size, I think he is on his way to being a Division 1 player on the next level.

Jackson did all he could in this one to try and get the Panthers going. The Mooresville defense was after him all night long, and he was constantly scrambling to try and make plays. When Jackson had time, he had a good connection with the aforementioned Keland Shelton, and he was able to find Otavio Oliveria and Siriman Conde, but unfortunately it just didn't happen consistently. Jackson definitely showed that he's more than a pocket passer with his scrambling ability.
