Five Brebeuf Jesuit standouts

Two weeks ago, Brebeuf shocked the state of Indiana with a 28-27 victory over Indiana 6A powerhouse Carmel. The win was an “upset” and the result of Brebeuf's hard-working roster that really shined through. Here are five key players that led them to victory and will continue to help the Braves win a state title.    Clark was the best player on the field and is a vastly under-recruited prospect.  Clark is a great receiver with outstanding ball skills, excellent adjustment high and low. He can high-point and dig out of the dirt. He displays great hands in traffic and good run after the catch. If his fit isn't as an outside receiver, he has enough juice to be a slot guy. As a route runner, he is smooth in/out of breaks, runs comeback routes well; can extend and keep his feet in bounds. He caught two touchdowns in the first half and a third for the game winner that gave the Braves a lead in the 4th quarter.     Geske showed a solid arm and great accuracy on the deep ball, and has a short memory from his mistakes. The gunslinger hit receivers in stride in the short/intermediate game, showed strong leadership and has great on-field temperament. He possesses good mobility and can elude rushers. He even earned the praise of Carmel head coach John Hebert with his savvy in and out of the pocket. With his father, Matt, leading the Braves as head coach, Geske is very cerebral and football-minded.     Harris is an electrifying playmaker. Although slightly undersized, he's a a very twitched-up back with great burst and acceleration and a thick frame. He has great top-end if he finds a crease, and he's very elusive in space, hard to bring down, runs through contact very well and has great balance in open field. He also displays good hands as a receiver on screens, quickly catches and pressing the field vertically.     Maiers is one of the Braves' brighter underclassmen prospects. He's a solid linebacker prospect v. run. While he could develop some more hard-hitting ability, he closes on the ball and wraps up well. He takes good angles to ballcarriers and possesses good instincts. He has undeniable effort: he chases down ball carriers if they break the second level.     Hmurovich is a strong two-way prospect who displays good run-after-the-catch ability and good speed. He can break through contact well, stays on his feet in space, and displays solid hands over the middle of the field. Although his college fit could be better at defensive back, his productivity as a receiver is strong.
