CeJay Jones had the most explosive passing performance of week 8 in Class 1A. Jones capped off what has been an up-and-down junior season with a game that showed plenty of potential for his big-play ability, finishing 21 of 45 for 445 yards, 5 touchdowns, and a pick, while adding 27 rushing yards on 4 carries. Jones took some hits through the night, but when he had time, Jones was airing out some impressive bombs, showing great power and arc on his passes to his speedy receivers. If Jones can improve on his velocity of his throws, Jones could become one of the top QBs in Iowa heading into the class of 2026, and with time to develop a strong rapport with his young receivers, Jones has the potential to help Ogden rise into being a legitimate contender .

One of the top two-sport athletes in the state, [player_tooltip player_id='1221934' first='Garrett' last='Luett'] enjoyed a solid senior campaign leading the Eagles' offense, and he saved one of his best games of his career for the end of the regular season. Against Red Oak, Luett finished 16 of 19 for 282 yards and 3 touchdowns while adding 4 carries for 34 yards and a rushing touchdown. Luett showcased his outstanding arm throughout the night, with sharp reads, great accuracy, and his arc on his throws looked as pristine as I've seen for a top QB recruit. Luett has already committed to playing baseball at Iowa, but hopefully we'll get to see one last effort from Luett to help Underwood back to the state title game against the odds.

[player_tooltip player_id='1197483' first='Braylon' last='Bingham'] capped off a brilliant sophomore campaign by leading a blowout win at home over Cardinal. In the game, Bingham finished 8 of 10 passing, hitting for 151 yards and 4 touchdowns passing. He also added 52 rushing yards on just 3 carries and 2 touchdowns on the ground. Bingham did a great job dissecting the defense and making sharp throws through the open seams based on his reads. He had an impressive 19 yard run during the game that came off a botched snap, in which he was able to get outside the contain rush and get down the sideline to make an impressive effort. Bingham has the mechanics, drive, and improving confidence as one of the best QBs in the conference, and I'm excited to see how he will translate that into the postseason.

[player_tooltip player_id='1614184' first='Judd' last='Jirovsky'], the first-year starter for Grundy Center caps off what has been a brilliant debut campaign with a shutout win over a 5-2 Hudson team to finish the season #1 in Class 1A. Jirovsky finished the night 15 of 23 for 182 yards, 3 touchdowns, and a pick, while adding 2 carries for 24 yards. Jirovsky boasts the toughness, accuracy, and improvisational abilities to lead the Spartans, and he used that to lead a cruising victory over a tougher opponent this week. Jirovsky will now have the test of trying to keep Grundy Center's winning streak going as they look to capture their third straight Class 1A state championship title.

[player_tooltip player_id='1657101' first='Kyle' last='Tracy'] led #7 Regina Catholic to an upset win at home against #4 Wilton this week as his dynamic athleticism and dual-threat capabilities were on full display in the win. Tracy finished 12 of 24 for 142 yards, a touchdown, and a pick, while adding 127 rushing yards on 18 carries and a touchdown. Tracy was sharp throwing the ball, but what impressed me the most from him was his ability to get out of trouble and extend the play when the pocket collapsed on him, and he was able to create some big plays through the night out of the pocket that allowed the Regals to pull off the upset. The win will certainly propel the Regals as a top-5 team in Class 1A, and Tracy will look to maintain this building momentum heading into the postseason.

Treynor capped off another spectacular campaign with a shutout win on the road against Missouri Valley, and [player_tooltip player_id='533047' first='Ben' last='Casey'] did a great job navigating through the Big Reds' secondary on Friday night. Casey finished 14 of 24 for 123 yards and 2 touchdowns. Casey didn't have any long throws, but beat Missouri Valley with short, concise passes, using motion and play-action to set up quick completions, and Casey did a great job managing the offense. Casey will try to push Treynor deep into the postseason, starting off on Friday on the road against Riverside.

[player_tooltip player_id='1242840' first='Talan' last='Fuson'] has done a spectacular job leading Woodward-Granger's offense, and he wraps up the regular season by leading the Hawks to their best win-total since 2012. On the road against West Central Valley, Fuson finished 8 of 14 for 154 yards, 3 touchdowns, and a pick, and he added 38 rushing yards on 13 carries. Fuson's athleticism and skillset has been so unique for this team, and while he wasn't able to generate much on the ground this week, Fuson hit some brilliant passes during the night, including a 59 yard touchdown that came off a deep bomb. Fuson has done a great job establishing himself as a dangerous leader for the offense this season, and now his skillset will be put to the test in the postseason as he looks to navigate the Hawks to the state championship.
