It's the month of October and that means it's time for a prospect ranking update! Throughout this month, we'll be updating each class ranking and following up those updates with in-depth breakdowns on a ton of prospects in each class. We kicked things off with the 2028 Watchlist. Then we continued our updates with the 2027 class. The ranking now features the Top 75 Sophomores In Oklahoma. In this breakdown, we're taking a look at the pass catchers. These five guys have stood out in one way or another over the last ten months.

Salina wide receiver [player_tooltip player_id='807020' first='Cooper' last='Hooker'] is one of the top wide receivers in Oklahoma's 2027 class. But it has been a tough fall for the small school standout. Hooker suffered a leg injury very early on in the season and has missed a little over a month of game action. He's getting close to 100 percent and if the Wildcats can steal some district wins down the stretch, we could see more of him once the playoffs roll around. But even if we don't, Hooker is a player to keep an eye on moving forward. He produced at a high level during his freshman season and he had an excellent offseason. When healthy, Hooker is one of the top wide receivers in the state's 2027 clas.

The first of two Sandites on this breakdown is [player_tooltip player_id='1530080' first='Dom' last='Forbes'] and out of the two, Forbes is definitely a new name for us to look at. Forbes is enjoying a breakout season as the leading receiver of a Sand Springs offense that is throwing it around quite a bit this year. Forbes got our attention in September when he started making 100+ yard games with a few touchdowns look like the new normal routine. We don't have the complete stats from every team but it would be surprising if another receiver in Class 6A-2 had more yards and touchdowns up to this point. We get to see him in person this week and we're looking forward to having more of an opinion of this breakout player.

Right behind Forbes is [player_tooltip player_id='1297670' first='Tristian' last='Birmingham'] and he was a player that we were very impressed with when we got to see him this offseason. It's hard to put a lot of weight on performances in 7v7 tournaments and in a camp setting. But Birmingham always stood out to us so it's no surprise that he's emerged as a legitimate playmaker in the Sandite offense this fall. After moving from Owasso to Sand Springs this offseason, Birmingham hit the ground running and is definitely a player to watch moving forward. And just like Forbes, we're looking forward to seeing him in person with the pads on and seeing what kind of impact he has on Friday.

Jenks sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='693998' first='Braxton' last='Daniel'] is going to be an intriguing prospect to watch over the next two years. Because as of right now, we think he's a tight end but he's also athletic enough to not be that traditional tight end on the edge of an offensive line. And Jenks is very deep on the offensive side of the ball in the skill department so Daniel hasn't had as many opportunities as some of the other prospects on this breakdown. But the size, athleticism and skill is all there for him to be a guy to know moving forward. He's in a program that really likes to utilize guys like him as a pass catcher and as a physical player who can pave the way as a blocker.

Broken Arrow's [player_tooltip player_id='1530085' first='Zane' last='Matthews'] is in a similar position to Forbes at Sand Springs. We didn't know much about him coming into this season but after seeing the production that he's had in the Tiger offense, there was no doubt that he belonged on this breakdown as another newcomer to the 2027 rankings. Matthews leads the team in receptions with over 40 catches on the year and is second in the team in yards. But Matthews also has one of the more bizarre stats that we've seen this fall. He leads the team in receptions but is still looking for his first touchdown of the year. Considering his production, it feels like it's only a matter of time before he hits the end zone.
