West Charlotte at Cox Mill - Offensive Standouts

The West Charlotte Lions dominated the Cox Mill Chargers 41-0 at Cox Mill High School this past Friday Night. Several offensive players stood out on both teams, we will take a look at them right here.    Jamouri played a great game for the Lions, directing the offense with a mix of passing and running - Jamouri had two touchdown passes and a 20 yard touchdown run in a very productive game. Jamouri showed some scrambling ability to throw on the run with good accuracy. He also completed rhythm passes off of play-action and did a good job of carrying out handoffs and fakes in a multi-faceted run game.     The dynamic prospect scored on a beautiful pass from his QB [player_tooltip player_id='1321007' first='Jamouri' last='Nichols'] off of play-action for the first touchdown of the game. Davion showed off his running ability on his 2nd touchdown, which was scored on a reverse by the Lions. Davion showed excellent speed and vision with the football in his hands. Davion also has some snaps on defense as a defensive back as well.     The powerful interior lineman for the Lions really had a chance to shine on zone plays to his side where he could step and drive on a down lineman. Justin also showed some ability to pull on a couple of occasions as well, showing good physicality and athleticism in space. In the straight-ahead run game, the Lions got their best run yardage behind Justin.     Rakim showed a strong ability to get open all throughout the game, he just wasn't able to hookup on a lot of targets he received. I liked his route running and technique in releasing off the line, and his footwork in freeing himself from Cox Mill's defensive coverage. Rakim did have a nice catch and run off of a curl route to set up a touchdown in the 2nd quarter. On that play, Rakim found a hole in the zone, sat down, made the catch and then immediately got up field for about a 25 yard gain.       Playing Wide Receiver, Donte scored on about a 25 yard touchdown run in the 3rd quarter. It was a nice play design by the Lions, and Donte showed a good combination of speed and strength on the run, breaking a couple of tackles on his way to the end zone. Donte appears to have grown in height as well - he did not get many targets in the passing game, but he will make the most of his touches for sure.     The dynamic receiver was used all over the field - Jordan had several chances as a kick returner, had multiple targets in the passing game, and had a few.designed runs from the receiver position. Jordan made an impressive jumping catch on a drive where Cox Mill had a decent scoring chance, but they could not punch it in the end zone. Jordan showed great speed and strength overall, and I loved his competitive attitude.     Gavin's size was impressive, and he made a nice catch on a corner route, showing some real vertical threat ability from a flexed out tight end position. Cox Mill suffered an injury at the QB position, so we then learned that Gavin is a backup quarterback for the Chargers. Gavin's overall athletic skill set was impressive and I am interested to see how he continues to progress for the rest of the season.     It was a tough night for the talented running back prospect, but he did have a highlight on a fake punt that Cox Mill ran in the 3rd quarter to try and jumpstart their offense. The play resulted in a first down, and it showed off Emery's speed in the open field, as he was able to outrun a couple of Lions defenders who had good angles on him to stop him from gaining first down yardage. Emery also did a good job of simply putting his head down and using strength to maximize the few yards that he could gain in the running game.
