Get 25% Off Your Subscription By Entering Knight25 In The Coupon Code Area. Enjoy!

Week three is in the books and with it, the non-district slate comes to an end. Every weekend, we'll take a look at some of the top results from across the state of Oklahoma. Whether it was one of the biggest games of the week, an upset that nobody saw coming or something else, we'll have everything you need to know about the week that was with the weekly round up post. And keep it locked in to Prep Redzone Oklahoma throughout the weekend when we put up our weekly Top Performer feature and we finish off the weekend with our updated rankings for each class!

BIXBY 55, CHOCTAW 27

It was a renewal of an old 6A-2 rivalry as Bixby traveled west to square off with Choctaw. The Spartans would roll to a 55-27 victory to improve to 2-1 on the season while the Yellowjackets dropped their second straight game to a state champion after falling to Kansas state champ Gardner Edgerton last week. The final score is also a little deceiving as the Spartans led 55-13 but some uncharacteristic late game penalties on the Spartans would allow the Yellowjackets to add two more touchdowns before the game went final. For Choctaw, this is still a serious contender in Class 6A-2. For Bixby, they now shift their focus to a potential district title showdown. They'll host Jenks in a rematch of last year's 6A-1 title game.

BLANCHARD 33, GUTHRIE 24

In one of the top games of week three, defending 4A champion Blanchard would host 5A contender Guthrie. The Lions would knock off the Blue Jays 33-24 and that's a big win for the defending champs as they now shift their focus to district play. Guthrie now looks to bounce back after starting the year with a 1-2 record after losing to two top five teams in Class 4A. It should come as no surprise but senior star [player_tooltip player_id='268307' first='Brayson' last='Carter'] led the way for the Lions in the win on Friday night. Like we've said multiple times over the last 12 months, when Carter is on the field, more times than not, he's the best player on that field. And Friday night was another great example of that. He was incredibly productive in all three phases.

CARL ALBERT 30, STILLWATER 0

You could definitely make the argument that this game was the game of the week coming into week three. So that makes Carl Albert's 30-0 victory on the road over Stillwater even more impressive. Stillwater is a serious contender in Class 6A-2 and has an OT win over Union on their schedule. Carl Albert is of course the favorite to win another gold ball in Class 5A and the Titans look incredibly strong on defense to start this season. Stillwater has a really good passing attack but they were shut out on Friday night as the Titans haven't given up a single point to start the year. Leading the way for the Carl Albert defense is senior linebacker [player_tooltip player_id='353419' first='Caden' last='Davis'] and he had an impact in the game in all three phases.

CLAREMORE 30, HILLDALE 0

We have to tip our cap to Claremore on their 3-0 start following a dominant 30-0 win over Hilldale on Friday night. After they made a run to the 5A semifinals last year, we thought they would take a step back in 2024 after losing a lot of production to graduation. So far, Claremore hasn't missed a beat this season and they look to keep the momentum going into district play. On Friday night, they held a Hilldale offense that isn't lacking playmakers on the offensive side of the ball to 0 points and a little over 100 yards of total offense. The Hornets finally cracked the 100-yard mark in the fourth quarter after the game was already decided. The Zebras are definitely one of the surprise teams of the early season.

HERITAGE HALL 28, MILLWOOD 25

Heritage Hall continued their winning ways in this series with OKC rival Millwood on Friday night. There was a ton of offense in this one as both teams would move the ball up and down the field. But the Chargers would win with big plays on defense down the stretch. Senior linebacker [player_tooltip player_id='1101130' first='Graham' last='Murphy'] probably had the best game of his career and that included a clutch sack that secured the 28-25 victory for the Falcons. Both of these teams expect to contend for the state championship in their respective classes so when they meet up every September, it's one of the best games on the schedule. Both teams are now 2-1 entering district play and we're looking forward to seeing how both teams progress.

HOLDENVILLE 22, NORTH ROCK CREEK 13

After watching Holdenville twice during the spring at various team camps, we thought the Wolverines had the potential to be one of the dark horses in Class 2A-2. Fast forward to right now and the Wolverines are 3-0 and they just got a massive 22-13 home win over North Rock Creek. Holdenville wrapped up non-district action with a win over a 3A team that climbed up those rankings in the first few weeks. The Wolverines were led once again by a dominant rushing attack while the passing game would pick their spots to attack. The defense would also swarm to the ball and force multiple turnovers in the win. Don't be surprised if the Wolverines continue to climb up the Class 2A-2 rankings moving forward.

KIEFER 18, SPERRY 12

We haven't given up on Kiefer despite the Trojans starting the year with an 0-2 record after losses to Jones and Vian. The Trojans were facing one of the toughest non-district schedules in Class 2A-1 and the record reflected that. But they avoided starting the season with an 0-3 record after some late game heroics in an 18-12 win over Sperry on Friday night. This game was tied up at 12 late in the fourth quarter and the Trojans would strike. It was a simple screen pass with less than two minutes to play but it would end up being a 78-yard touchdown and that would end up deciding the game. The Trojans are coming off an appearance in the Class 2A semifinals a year ago and Kiefer is starting to pick up momentum going into district play.

MOORE 33, NORMAN NORTH 28

The Moore Lions knocked off Norman North 33-28 to finish off non-district play at 3-0. Now, the story here for us is not so much that Moore beat Norman North but it's all about what the Lions are going to do moving forward. This is the fourth straight season where Moore has begun the year with a 3-0 record. In each of the last three years, they started at 3-0 and would miss out on the playoffs. So moving forward, it's going to be about how the Lions finish. This is a team that is incredibly hungry to finish strong after starting strong the last three years. And this season is no different. They find themselves at 3-0 but it'll be all about what they do moving forward. For Norman North, they have to bounce back after starting 0-3.

MOUNT SAINT MARY 41, CASADY 7

Don't look now but head coach J.D. Runnels has Mount Saint Mary 3-0 on the young season and a team to watch out for moving forward. The Rockets went on the road and beat Casady 41-7. That was the first victory for MSM over the Cyclones in nearly 50 years. This is a team that is learning how to win and they could be a team to watch moving forward in their class. The Rockets were led on Friday night by quarterback Jefferson Hodge as he absolutely dominated on the ground as well as in the passing game. Casady has had a tough start to their first year in OSSAA play but now that district play is opening up, the slates are wiped clean and they can now focus on bouncing back. We're looking forward to seeing where both teams go from here.

MUSTANG 54, WESTMOORE 30

Mustang improved to 3-0 on the season but the Broncos were absolutely tested in their 54-30 victory over Westmoore on Friday night. Mustang trailed at halftime and were down by as much as 23-7 in the second quarter. But the Broncos would absolutely dominate the second half to roll to the win. They outscored the Jaguars 40-7 in the second half to run away with the win and improve to 3-0 on the season. With the win, head coach Lee Blankenship secured his 100th career victory as a head coach and the Broncos are looking like a serious team to watch in Class 6A-1. While Friday night featured a score from Westmoore, the Broncos used a suffocating defense and an explosive offense to rally and run away with the win.

NORMAN 41, PIEDMONT 14

The Norman Tigers are 3-0 on the season and show no signs of slowing down. The offense has been clicking on all cylinders and the defense has been able to shut down opponents when they need to do so. On Friday night, the Tigers would go on the road and face a Piedmont team that was looking to control the game on the ground. It looked good to start as they jumped out to a 7-0 lead early on. From there, it was all Norman as the Tigers would run away with the 41-14 victory to improve to 3-0 on the year. The Tigers are definitely going to be a team to watch in Class 6A-1 this season and they'll be led by a solid senior class. Despite the loss, Piedmont is still a serious team to look out for in their first year in Class 6A-2.

PAULS VALLEY 19, WEATHERFORD 6

Coming into this season, we knew that Pauls Valley was going to be a good football team. Despite being a borderline 5-5 squad over the last few years, the Panthers had all the tools to be one of the best in Class 3A and they are playing like it so far. They beat a top ten 4A squad in Weatherford 19-6 on Friday night. And it should be no surprise but senior running back [player_tooltip player_id='353410' first='Caden' last='Knighten'] would once again lead the way for the Panthers in the win. The Baylor commit accounted for all three Pauls Valley touchdowns and was dominant in the ground game as well as the passing game as a receiver. Knighten is a big reason why we were high on Pauls Valley coming into this year. He's once again proving that he is one of the very best in Oklahoma.

PLAINVIEW 23, DAVIS 13

Plainview went on the road and beat Davis 23-13 behind a strong defensive effort and key plays from the special teams department. The Indians have now started the season with a 3-0 record and when the updated 3A rankings come out on Sunday evening, don't be surprised if Plainview is a team that makes a significant jump up those rankings. On the other side, you now have a Davis team that is 0-3 but has held steady at #2 in our Class 2A-2 rankings. An easy question would be why have an 0-3 team ranked at number two? Well, it's simple. Davis has gone 0-3 against a non-district schedule that featured two top four teams in Class 3A as well as a Plainview squad that has been top ten from the start. Almost every 2A-2 team would have a similar record.

PUTNAM CITY NORTH 43, SOUTHMOORE 21

On Thursday night, Putnam City North would get another statement victory, beating Southmoore 43-21. And the statement would come from the defensive side of the ball. The Panthers absolutely dominated on the line of scrimmage and caused problems all night for the Sabercats. They racked up an insane amount of sacks, specifically in the third quarter to roll to the 22-point victory. In Class 6A-2 this season, you have your usual suspects at the top like Muskogee, Stillwater and Choctaw. But after that, there is room for more teams to make a run and possibly make a run to the 6A-2 semifinals. After seeing what the Panthers have done in the first few weeks of the season, it's fair to consider PC North a 6A-2 dark horse.

REJOICE CHRISTIAN 52, CHRISTIAN HERITAGE 21

In an underrated game in Class A-1, we saw #4 Rejoice Christian easily dispatch #6 Christian Heritage with a 52-21 victory at home. But the story of this game is the emergence of freshman [player_tooltip player_id='1328118' first='Kamieon' last='Nero'] at the quarterback position. Filling in for Rejoice's QB1, Nero came in and absolutely dominated through the air and the ground. He put up monster numbers in both categories on Friday night. Before the season began, Nero was on our list of "freshmen to watch" this season but we honestly didn't know how much we'd see the dynamic playmaker. Rejoice Christian expects to have their original starter back at quarterback fairly soon but it has to feel good that if they need someone else to step up, Nero has shown he can do just that.

SAND SPRINGS 38, BISHOP KELLEY 3

When we published the Sand Springs preview back in July, we knew that the Sandites were testing themselves in a major way with their first two games against Bixby and Owasso. Both Sand Springs and Bishop Kelley came into Friday's game with 0-2 record and the Sandites rolled to a 38-3 victory. And there was no doubt who was the player of the game in this one. Junior quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='449993' first='Easton' last='Webb'] had one of the best games of his career with well over 400 yards passing and the Sandites avoided the 0-3 start with the win. Now, they head into district play and it would be foolish to overlook this Sandite team in Class 6A-2. And despite Bishop Kelley being 0-3, it would also be foolish to overlook them moving forward.

VIAN 67, POCOLA 34

Friday night we went out to eastern Oklahoma to watch 2A-2's top-ranked Vian go on the road and face off with A-1's #5 Pocola. The Wolverines have never lost to Pocola and they didn't start on Friday night. The Wolverines would race out to a big first quarter lead and cruise to a 67-34 victory. The first quarter felt like a track meet as it lasted nearly an hour and ended with Vian leading 33-12. There were touchdowns, turnovers and plenty of big plays all over the field. Junior standout [player_tooltip player_id='424595' first='Masyn' last='Wright'] led the Wolverines to the win with over 300 yards on the ground and impacted the game on defense and special teams. For more of a breakdown on the top performers from that game, check out our recap HERE.

WAGONER 41, BRISTOW 7

Wagoner went on the road to wrap up non-district play and had another methodical victory over Bristow on Friday night. The Bulldogs rolled to a 41-7 victory and senior standout [player_tooltip player_id='530573' first='Kale' last='Charboneau'] shined bright on both sides of the ball. And this came on the same day that he was added to our PRZ-Oklahoma Player Of The Year Watchlist. He instantly backed up that hype. This game was somewhat close early on but the Bulldogs continued to pull away in the final three quarters to win comfortably. Now, they turn their attention to a new district foe as they open up district play against a Fort Gibson squad that is 3-0 on the season. Bristow might have dropped to 1-2 but this is still going to be a good team in 3A.

WALTERS 38, VELMA-ALMA 16

Walters joined the Class A-1 rankings last week and they backed it up with a dominant 38-16 win on the road over Velma-Alma. The Blue Devils are now 3-0 on the season and looking like a team to watch in the new class. They actually trailed Velma-Alma 8-0 but would rattle off 29 unanswered points to run away with a road win over a ranked Class A-2 squad. Leading the way for the Blue Devils was running back [player_tooltip player_id='1507676' first='BJ' last='Palmer'] as he would finish with four touchdowns on the ground. We're only three games into the season but Palmer is now in the double digits for touchdowns and we're definitely going to keep an eye on him moving forward as a potential gamechanger in Class A-1. The Blue Devils might be the favorite in their district.

WOODLAND 46, PAWHUSKA 8

Our final game on this week's round up was one of the bigger statement victories of week three. Class A-2's top-ranked Woodland would host a top five A-1 team in Pawhuska on Friday night and completely dominated. The Cougars would absolutely explode in the second half to run away with a 46-8 victory. Woodland would outscore the Huskies 30-8 in the second half behind a balanced offense with the run and the pass. Going into the game, on paper, this was a marquee quarterback match-up and we expected to see some explosive plays from both sides. Woodland put the rest of Class A-2 on notice that there's a reason they are sitting on top of the A-2 rankings with a monster statement victory.
