It was a wild Week 2 across the state of North Carolina as we saw weather force postponements and outright cancellations of games all across the state. We were still able to pull together some great offensive performances for this week's edition of Stars of the State, where we highlight special offensive performances from players.

RB [player_tooltip player_id='1122961' first='Shannon' last='Wingate Jr']. – North Lincoln – 21 Carries, 171 Yards, 4 Touchdowns In Victory - The Class of 2026 prospect is picking up right where he left off from last season, where he averaged 108 yards rushing per game and had 18 total touchdowns on the season. North Lincoln is off to a 2-0 start on the season.

WR [player_tooltip player_id='1060044' first='Kingston' last='Curry'] – East Gaston – 5 Catches For 120 Yards And A Touchdown vs. Catawba Ridge - Though it was in a defeat to a 5A South Carolina school, Kingston is taking advantage of being featured on offense this season after exclusively playing Defensive Back in his freshman year for the Warriors.

OL [player_tooltip player_id='321268' first='Kiande' last='Marsh'] – Hough – Dominant Film In Victory – Several Pancake Blocks Recorded - The SC State commit played angry after Hough suffered a 1-point loss to Northwestern out of South Carolina. Kiande played to the echo of the whistle and had repeated pancake blocks on both runs and passes in the Huskies' offense.

QB [player_tooltip player_id='371459' first='Trey' last='Blakeney'] – Hough – 6 Touchdown Passes and 18-24 Passing In Victory. Trey Also Threw For 323 Yards - Trey has continued his blistering pace throwing the football to start the season. The Austin Peay commit has thrown for over 700 yards already this season with double-digit touchdown passes. It will be interesting to see if the Huskies' offense can be slowed down after already scoring 98 points in two games this season.

QB [player_tooltip player_id='1114054' first='Maddox' last='Greene'] – Watauga – 257 Passing Yards, 3 TDs, 56 Rushing Yards In Victory - It is no surprise that the 2025 prospect with a 4.28 GPA and 4.6 40-yard dash time is off to a strong start for the Pioneers this season. Maddox has been the soul and the heartbeat for Watauga football, and his dual-threat ability will take them far once again this season.

QB [player_tooltip player_id='752104' first='Jaylen' last='Hewitt'] – Havelock – 358 Passing Yards, 6 Touchdowns In Victory - The talented Class of 2025 signal-caller is leading the 3A state classification in passing yardage with 715 yards after two games this season. Add in 10 total passing touchdowns already this year, and Havelock is setting up to have a big season in the Eastern part of the state for sure.

WR [player_tooltip player_id='1395227' first='Rakem' last='Hammock'] – NW Guilford – 157 Receiving Yards and 2 Touchdowns In Victory - Rakem put up these numbers on only 7 catches, which means he is showing some big-play threat ability on the outside. At 5'11 and 180 pounds, the Class of 2027 prospect will firmly be in our crosshairs for a boost in our next Rankings Update.

WR Dre Norris – Pine Lake - 137 Receiving Yards, KO Return for TD vs. Southlake Christian - The Class of 2025 prospect is starting to have the looks of a late-rising senior in terms of production and possible recruiting interest. At 6'1 and 175 pounds, Norris should continue to see targets and opportunities in a Pine Lake offense that is throwing the football around this season.

QB [player_tooltip player_id='1144640' first='Ely' last='Hamrick'] – AC Reynolds – 286 Passing Yards, 85 Rushing Yards, 2 TDs in Victory - The heralded Class of 2026 prospect shook off a tough Week 1 loss to West Forsyth with a big dual-threat performance on the road at a good Shelby program. At 6'5 and 220 pounds, the highlight film continues to back up all of the recruiting attention Ely has received thus far in his career.

WR Mitrend Curry – Walkertown – 248 Receiving Yards & 3 Touchdowns In Victory - Mitrend has been off to a stellar start so far this season with the Walkertown offense, putting up two consecutive weeks of strong production. Mitrend already has 6 receiving touchdowns on the season, showing excellent speed and agility overall. At 5'9 and 160 pounds, Mitrend may be a sneaky pickup as a slot receiver prospect for colleges.

TE [player_tooltip player_id='1607810' first='Qualteau' last='Hawkins'] – Stuart Cramer – 133 Receiving Yards, 2 Touchdowns In Victory - I have liked the Class of 2027 prospect ever since seeing his film over the summer in our Class of 2027 position breakdowns. At 6'3 and 200+ pounds, Hawkins is showing some real vertical ability with his run-after-catch burst and soft hands plucking the football out of the air. I am very intrigued to see how Hawkins will continue to develop over the course of this season for a Storm program getting better quickly.
