Expert Analysis
Joshua Graham | Prep Redzone Scout
The senior had another near performance, dropping 3 touchdowns while going 22-30 gaining 330 yards. Jaylen is leading the state in passing yards and should eclipse 4,000 and 40 touchdowns during his next game this Friday versus Scotland County.

When we heard Hewitt was moving to Havelock in the offseason, we thought he’d play well, but he’s surprised even us by the numbers he’s putting up. He’s averaging over 350 yards a game through the air and leads the class with 31 touchdowns. He certainly has a lot of talent around him and a few of his teammates will be on this list as well, Hewitt leads the way so far.

Jaylen had another monster game and is just adding to his already monster senior season. The 6’5 senior QB went 19-22 397 yards and 6 touchdowns in Havelocks 62-14 win over South Central. Hewitt on the season will clear 3k and has already topped 30 Touchdowns with (2) games remaining on the year.

Hewitt was one of the higher-profile transfers in the offseason and he’s off to a blistering start in 2024, but he’s still underrecruited. The senior has excellent size and athleticism that allows him to deliver with accuracy from multiple arm slots. He’s throwing for over 300 yards a game and is taking care of the ball as well. Against New Bern, when he was having trouble finding open receivers, he adapted by using his legs at a volume we’re not used to seeing from him.

He made all the easy plays look easy, and the hard plays like multiple 3rd and 4th down conversions, still appear to be easy. The rams had over 20 penalties with over half of them coming from the offense but Hewitt still managed to drop a career high 6 touchdowns with only 10 incompletes.
6’5 Rocket arm with elite decision making. More elusive than what you may think and has a great winning personality. He was never rattled or shaken during the game. All the players feed of his confidence and energy. He will also be the first to give credit up to his coaches and teammates. All Around phenom athlete and even better human being. I expect for his college interest to pick up tremendously in the next couple of weeks

While it was admittedly some oversight in our first offseason rankings update to keep Hewitt on the Watch List, we’ve pushed him well into the rankings here. Hewitt transferred to Havelock in the offseason and should have plenty of wideouts to throw to. His arm is solid and he has the athleticism to move around in the pocket or take off running.
