Each week on Prep Redzone Oklahoma, we'll put a spotlight on one of, if not the very best game of the week. And this week, the slate is absolutely loaded so this is the first of two "Scene Setters" for week one. From a match-up breakdown to looking at each team and their top players, we'll get you completely covered! This week, one of the best games will see a #1 VS #2 showdown in the Tulsa area as top-ranked Jenks will host number two Owasso.

This time a week ago, this was a really good match-up but it has become the must-see game of week one. Jenks dominated their season opener against Edmond Santa Fe with a balanced offense and a stingy defense. On the other side of the match-up, you have Owasso knocking off Bixby and becoming the second team to beat the Spartans in 70+ games. That other team? Jenks in 2022. And while the storyline coming out of week zero might have been Owasso upset Bixby. Anyone who was there on Friday night saw an Owasso team that was better from start to finish. They should have gotten more credit coming into this season.

What the Rams do well on both sides of the ball starts with the line of scrimmage. On offense, they feature one of the best offensive lines in the state and that led a mauling rushing attack that also opened things up in the passing game. They have multiple guys that can beat a defense at the running back position and their young sophomore quarterback did not shy away from the bright lights in his first ever varsity start. And of course, they have an emerging junior wide receiver that is currently on pace to become a superstar by the end of the year. Defensively, it starts with that line of scrimmage. The defensive line and the front seven in general caused a lot of problems for the Bixby offense. They have multiple guys in their secondary that play with an extreme amount of confidence and made plenty of plays in week zero.

And for Jenks, it's a very similar story where it can start on the line of scrimmage. Offensively, the Trojans are just like Owasso with multiple guys that hold D1 offers and are headed to the next level. And they pave the way for one of, if not the best running back in Oklahoma. And as we mentioned earlier, the Trojans were incredibly balanced and we'll add efficient in their season opener against Edmond Santa Fe. While their star running back gets a lot of the attention, this offense is not lacking skill players elsewhere. Defensively, the Trojans have a strong front and front seven in general. They went up against a Santa Fe offense that has a future D1 running back and limited what he was able to do but Friday's test against Owasso will be a tough one. In order for Jenks to win and hold on to the top spot in 6A-1, they have to win the battle on the line of scrimmage.

Below, we take a look at three players for each team that are not only some of the best players in the match-up, but these three players will play a very important role in the outcome of Friday's showdown!

[player_tooltip player_id='402378' first='KD' last='Jones'] - Junior Running Back

Jenks junior running back [player_tooltip player_id='402378' first='KD' last='Jones'] is one of the best players in the state of Oklahoma. The Trojans will need him to play like that on Friday night against an Owasso defense that did a fantastic job in the season opener. The Rams really limited what Bixby could do in the run game but the Spartans don't have anybody on their offense quite like Jones. The Jenks junior would have a solid showing in the season opener, totaling over 200 yards of total offense and several touchdowns. Every time he steps on the field, Jones is one of, if not the best player on that field. This week (and next week for that matter) Jones will have an opportunity to make plays against top competition.

[player_tooltip player_id='598834' first='Owen' last='Jones'] - Senior Quarterback

Jenks senior quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='598834' first='Owen' last='Jones'] might be the biggest key for either side in Friday night's game. Jones had a terrific week zero performance against Edmond Santa Fe but the pressure is going to ratchet up in a big way on Friday night. When you look at the things Owasso did well in week zero, it was getting to the quarterback in waves and making him very uncomfortable in the pocket. If Jones can remained poised and avoid the overthrows, sacks and overall negative plays, the Trojans will be in a good position to get the win. The Jenks senior was incredibly efficient in the week zero win over Santa Fe but this week will feel a little different.

[player_tooltip player_id='478124' first='Semaj' last='Stanford'] - Sophomore Wide Receiver/Defensive Back

As of now, it looks like we'll see sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='478124' first='Semaj' last='Stanford'] on Friday night after he had to leave the Santa Fe game with an injury. If he plays, Stanford gives the Trojans arguably the best two-way player on the field. On offense, he can produce at a high level at wide receiver but on defense is where he can shine in this match-up. Owasso's passing attack did a great job against Bixby last week, specifically with one playmaker at wide receiver. If Stanford and this Jenks secondary can do a good job of limiting their opportunities, they'll be in a very good position. Stanford is widely considered the top prospect in the state's 2027 class.

[player_tooltip player_id='1045556' first='Jayson' last='Moll'] - Junior Running Back

An underrated part of the week zero win over Bixby was the three-headed monster Owasso has at running back. Junior running back [player_tooltip player_id='1045556' first='Jayson' last='Moll'] had a terrific season opener and it wasn't just as a rusher but he also helped out the passing game as a receiver out of the backfield. Moll had a strong sophomore season, continued to show improvement throughout the offseason and then exploded in the season opener against the Spartans. And as we've mentioned the Owasso offensive line is one of the best in the state and Moll and the rest of the Owasso running backs can take advantage of that. Moll and the Rams will look to have more success than Santa Fe did in week zero.

[player_tooltip player_id='1217089' first='Tahkari' last='Bethel'] - Junior Wide Receiver

So that emerging superstar wide receiver would happen to be this guy. Junior wideout [player_tooltip player_id='1217089' first='Tahkari' last='Bethel'] had a season opener for the record books as he had over 150 receiving yards, two excellent touchdown receptions and a 99-yard kick return for his third touchdown on the night. Bethel is a terrific athlete and he made the move this offseason from Booker T Washington to Owasso and he's made that move look like an easy one. This offseason, Bethel was an absolute star on the 7v7 circuit but at the end of the day, it's 7v7 and not what you see on Friday night. We'll just say this. A lot of what we saw in week zero, we saw all offseason and weren't surprised.

[player_tooltip player_id='1179991' first='Tajh' last='Overton'] - Junior Defensive Lineman

We've mentioned it a few times in this breakdown, the Owasso defensive front did an excellent job in week zero and they are a big reason why the Rams won that game. And when you're talking about Owasso's defense and specifically the front seven, it's hard to start the conversation with anyone other than [player_tooltip player_id='1179991' first='Tajh' last='Overton'] along the defensive line. This offseason, Overton emerged as not only one of the top defensive linemen in Oklahoma's 2026 class, he's clearly now one of the top overall prospects in the class. And in the first game of his junior season, he backed up all that offseason hype. He was a big problem for Bixby and looks to do the same against Jenks.
