The biggest question all offseason was who was going to replace Demond Williams at Basha knowing how big of shoes they have to fill. Well, it only took 48 minutes for Vehrs to put himself on the map here in AZ, throwing for 395 yards and 5 TD's in his debut as a starter to bet Nebraska based Millard South. He did a great job with his pre snap read and throwing with solid timing to get the rock to his playmakers in space quick. Flashed the ability to escape pressure and get outside the pocket and deliver throws on the move, as he holds numerous intangibles going forward.

Williams is establishing himself as a top player in 3A, as he rushes fir over 300 yards in back to back weeks. His total stat line consisted of 19 carries for 308 yards and 5 total TD's to beat Douglas 52-21. He runs with authority and did a great job running through initial contact to spring himself loose frequently. Good balance at the POC to stay up and keep momentum moving forward as well.

[player_tooltip player_id='1242301' first='Bentley' last='Corbin'], RB, O'Connor '25

I've been saying all offseason that Corbin was going to be a problem, and he in fact was by putting up 212 yards and 4 TD's on just 12 carries to beat up Chaparral 49-0. Corbin did all of his damage in the 1st half of football due to the blowout, so it'll be interesting to see the type of numbers he can put up in a competitive game with a full workload. Get him on your radar ASAP.

[player_tooltip player_id='954409' first='Braylen' last='Rooney'], QB, Arcadia '25

The highly ranked gunslinger threw for 256 yards and 4 TD's on just 17 passing attempts and rushed for another TD to blowout Glendale 41-0. No surprise here as Rooney looked sharp all offseason and all year last year, as I expect him to put up a stat line like this frequently this year as the top player in 4A.

[player_tooltip player_id='883279' first='Kael' last='Snyder'], QB, Perry '27

Another kid who stepped into the QB1 role in the 6A Premier Region, as Snyder put up 232 yards and 5 TD's in his debut win over Desert Ridge 40-7. His poise and pocket mechanics were excellent, frequently stepping up in the pocket keeping his eyes downfield going through progression. He showed good arm strength with a quick release and showcased good velocity on those field side out routes. The hype in the offseason is looking real after 1 game, and he'll get a big test next week as Perry goes at Granite Hills (CA).
